Toronto

Hi girls!

The BF is coming to visit from London in 9 days and we're planning a short trip to Toronto. Have any of you been there? Every time I am there I'm with family in the suburbs but we'll be downtown and will stop by the Niagara area for some obvious Niagara sight-seeing as well as some wine tasting (yes!).

Does anybody here have any suggestions for us on what to do / where to go / where to eat?

It'd be much appreciated Cool

Here's hoping you girls had a wonderful weekend.

We've never been wine tasting! We're so excited!

    Yes, Toronto, Canada!!!

AH! We were really itching to go to the St. Lawrence Market! I'm glad you are big on it because it's veeeeeery high on my list.

Do you have any other suggestions, Trueleo818?

We want to know where to eat and where to play!

I can't wait to see him. I think it'll take away so much stress. And the alone time together certainly doesn't hurt before he comes here to see my family :)

I didn't even know that an Indo-Canadian museum was there! That kind of sounds cool!!!

    Hi SonaliPop

    I'm from Toronto :)

Where are you guys planning on staying? (Hotel wise?)  Are you staying in Toronto proper (like the downtown core?)

If I could suggest a restaurant or two: check out 5th Element (Fusion), Papaya (Thai), Sultans Tent (Moroccan), and I've heard 259 Host is good too (Indian food).  These are all in the medium price range and not completely romantic ...if you want something more romantic...let me know ...I have other suggestions!

You can also check out all the Distillery/Esplanade area.  Lots of awesome pubs, bars etc

Day time sight seeing downtown: Harbourfront (very close to the lake), Dundas Sq, St L. Market, CN tower (obvious), Toronto Island (short ferry ride from the main land)

Shopping?: Queen street (awesome for vintage stores), Eaton center (and surrounding area - Yonge, Dundas etc)...you can also do the higher end shopping on Bloor street (close to the ROM - see below lol)

Museums to also see are: the ROM and the Bata shoe museum :)

Festivals happening first week of June: Short film festival & the blues festival :)

    I love Toronto!!

AH! Thank God! A bride from TO!

We'll be staying downtown in the Financial District, I believe.

Thanks for the suggestions? Do you know of any cool places that are vegetarian (we both don't eat meat)?

YES! Please let me know of any romantic places...preferably lounges and restaurants. Have you been to C Lounge? It looks...amazing.

What is there to do in Dundas Square? My cousin works in a hospital downtown in TO and posted pics of it but I'm not sure what you do there. Just walk around?

YAYYYYYYYY You're a life saver...send me as many suggestions as you have!!!

    :)
Okay a lot of the clubs in Toronto have now been taken over by the young kids.  C lounge is a club, and thurs-sunday they usually have the club feel.  So it will be rammed, loud and not really romantic - BUT it is fun if you are looking for a place to dance!!!!  (I love dancing lol)

Other good clubs for dancing: Muzik, This is London and Circa (there is also plenty of clubs at Richmond/Adelaide/Peter st - but there will be a younger crowd - just a warning if you don't want that)

Some lounges to consider: Branthouse, Panorama (amazing view of the city - kind of like signature room in Chicago) Easy on the 5th, Spice Route, The Drake hotel, Utra supper club, roosevelt room....each of these places has a completely different vibe.

I'm not vegetarian so I can't make any decent suggestions for vege restos.  However....i just emailed a friend for a few suggestions.  Also check out the websites for the restaurants I suggested they may have vege dishes.  The romantic restaurants I was going to suggest may not be vegetarian:  Stratus & Spuntini.

    Thanks so much!

You can eat in the St. Lawrence market, correct?

I've been to Lot 332 when I was there...too many trashed girls puking in the bath room. I think it'd have to be more of a lounge that we go to (we were looking into Panorama and have been to the Signature Room in Chi-town) since it's just the two of us. I love to dance but he's not too big into dancing.

Let me know what your friend says about vegetarian restaurants. I really appreciate this!

Also...what is China town like? Is the area safe?

Are there any areas we should avoid? We're pretty keen on stearing clear of shady spots wherever we travel.

Wow, Bhanu knows a lot! haha well DUH, she's from toronto. haha. The Indo-canadian museum is really neat. FI and I really enjoyed it. You should check out Crush Wine Bar (downtown toronto) since you guys are doing a little wiiiine tasting Wink (www.crushwinebar.com) Check out the Wine Events going on!

Like Bhanu mentioned, "The Sultan Tent & Cafe" is reallly good! it's moroccan food but since you don't eat meat, don't go there. haha

**Nataraj Indian Restaurant** its soooo gooodd! There's one here near my area and it tastes the same! Here's the good thing, they have vegetarian dishes! FI and I don't eae beef or pork because its considered "dirty meat" but we do eat white meat chicken and fish.
For appetizers at this place, we get Hara Kebab and Subzi Pakoras.
For dishes, FI gets Murgh Saag and I get Naurattan Korma. (veggie dish)
    Absolutely DELICIOUS!    (http://www.nataraj.ca/menu.html#a) <-- MENU

HOPE THAT HELPS! if you want more info, let me knoowww.
