Second line dance night before wedding

Hello!

I am up early planning, planning, planning!

So, I have really been thinking of doing the traditional second line dance. But, I am not sure it'll all fit into my day and the logistics of it considering the fact that the reception and ceremony are in one place and because I am paying by the hour, don't want to lose time. What do you guys think of doing the traditional brass band second line dance on the night before? I am thinking maybe from the RD to a bar where we'll all hang out for a bit? Anyone done it before? Also, recommendations on a band- resoanably priced for a darn good time.

Thanks ladies!

I think the 2nd line would be fun whenever you want to do it, but the funny thing is the 2nd line was recommended to us as a way of handling the switch over from ceremony to reception when we were looking into have both at the same location.  The 2nd line gave the venue time to break down the chairs from the ceremony and set up for the reception.  Ultimately we decided to have the ceremony in Jackson Square and then 2nd line to Pat O's on the River for the reception.
But I think you should do whatever works best for you.

My ceremony and reception are in the same place and we've decided to do our secondline at the end of the reception as our send off. We're using Coolbone Brass Band for our ceremony music, reception, and second line for a great price.

Like TurWalk, I had both my ceremony and reception at the same location so we had the 2nd line dance at the end of the reception.  I do think it would work no matter when you did it but having it at the end of the reception worked really great.  The 2nd line band showed up at the time we told them and it was sort of like the signal that the party was over.  They did a turn through the venue to pick everyone up and we followed them outside and 2nd lined to the hotel where we had a room block.  I think it was great for our OOT guests to have it at the end of the night b/c by then they'd had a few drinks and were more willing to let loose and do something that was a little different for them.  We used Algiers Brass Band and they were great.

Thanks a bunch ladies. I had thought about the 'after reception' second line and I am thinking I may just go with that. Or maybe we'll do it twice. Get the out of towners revved up the night before and give them another opportunity to do it again at the wedding. Thank you all so much . Your help and advice really make a world of difference, it's great!
