Licensed to Wed!!!

Hi ladies! FI and I are now officially licensed to get married. We went yesterday and got the papers.

I was worried and somewhat disappointed though, so I wanted to poll you ladies about what you got in your county. When I was MOH in my best friend's wedding, she was licensed in Gaston county and got an actual certificate thing that we all signed. We got our license in Pasquotank, and all we have are two government forms that we have to sign and send - one for vital records in Raleigh and one for the ROD in the county.

So...what did you ladies get?

we went a filed the paperwork and got the form.... and then went and got a copy after we were married of the license..... the only certificate we got was the one our preacher made for us....

We got a certificate, but DH aunt (she married us) wrote my name wrong on it and so it's stored away in a file.

We got the official paperwork and a certificate to keep. The lady at the office told us the certificate is enough proof to get upgrades at hotels and stuff on the honeymoon lol. Maybe you could make one yourself for everyone to sign as a keepsake.

Exactly what jrsturde said -- We got both. The certificate is fake, just a keepsake and you can show it to the hotel to get "honeymooner" upgrades & stuff.
