It's morning, hard to tell here because it's so dark

Just checking in to let you know we are still doing good.  There are 400,000+ without power, but somehow our part of town still has it.

It's very windy here and the rain has not stopped since last night.  Then the storm stalled for a little while meaning it wasn't going anywhere.   Happy to say it started moving again.  Mind you only 6 MPH, but so movement is better than nothing.

Thank you for all the well wishes.  I will try and keep you updated if I can.

Okay, so you and I must have been typing at the same time. Glad to hear you are okay.

It's my Thursday, since Friday is a furlough day. Yay for 4 day weekends, boo for not having any money to do anything fun.
  • Glad to hear you guys are okay over there =)

Morning! Tonight FI & his friend are going to be moving all our big furniture to the other place, which kind of sucks since we are going to be at this place till Friday with nothing but a blow up mattress. I have tomorrow off though atleast.

  • Oh, Lynda.  Again, I'm glad that you're in a safe place.  Hopefully Isaac keeps on moving away from you all.
  • They are still calling for another 20 hours of this. More if it slows down again. .  And it went west of NOLA.  So we are getting the bad part of the storm.  It's going to be a long day.

The Weather Channel is filming right down the block from us.  So if you happen to watch you will see what we are experiencing.

  • Came on to see if you had checked in. Glad to see you are ok.  You and Dh and Chef D hunker down.  We are keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers.  I checked all the morning shows and they are all in NOLA too.  Sorry you have to deal with this Lynda.
  • Hopefully things can get back to normal sooner rather than later Lynda!

I'm still on a massive high from the concert last night. It was EPIC.
  • Walking around the French Quarter all the big reporters could be seen.  Al, Anderson, Jim, Reynolds  everyone had a camera crew all within a few blocks of where I am.  Most are basically next to each other, one just faces north the other south.   LOL.

  • Lynda, I just watched a video of Jim Cantore on Canal Street. Those winds looked pretty wicked. Scary stuff.
  • Good morning.  Lynda, you and H and Chef D stay safe!

Today is my first day of school for what I hope will be my final semester of classes (trying not to jinx it).  I'm nervous but excited.  Gonna be a long day.

  • Morning.  Lynda, glad to hear you are currently safe. I hope it stays that way!

I'm flying home this afternoon.  Fun fact- after I booked this flight to surprise my sister a month and a half ago, my mom decides to tell me YESTERDAY that the move in day is not Thursday but TODAY.  She insists I just got the day wrong and did not understand that SHE GAVE ME THE WRONG DAY.  Why the eff would I buy a plane ticket for the wrong day? Fortunately my sister is just so happy that I'm coming that they are going to move the boxes in and I'll head up to her campus tomorrow to help her unpack everything.  But what I thought would be a fun trip home seems like it will not be so fun anymore, because my mom is absolutely having one of her episodes.  I'm usually very good about dealing with her when she has bad days with her mental illness, but I'm not excited to be thrown in the thick of it.

  • Glad you are all okay Lynda!

Good morning everyone... pro photos were posted yesterday! The quality is fantastic, but I'm a little bummed. Not one.single.person (myself included) realized that H was wearing his stupid BRIGHT YELLOW rubber bracelet on the wedding day. It's in EVERY photo of our vows, exchanging our rings, our first dance, our rings on after the ceremony... We laughed about it last night as we were going through them, but in reality he knows I'm a little disappointed and I know he feels bad about it. Oh well.

Hoping the disk gets here soon so we can go through them faster than the website allows!
  • Kelly - any way to have the photographer photoshop the bracelet out in a couple pics?

Lynda - I watched The Jim Cantore coverage. Crazy!!!

  • Meegles - if DH weren't so tatted, I would say it is definitely a possibility. But it would be very obvious that it was photoshopped out because of his ink. I'll just try to stick to photos that don't showcase it so much and in 20 years, we'll laugh about it.

[QUOTE]KB...my H wore his Livestrong bracelet too.

I would mind so much if it was a LiveStrong one... but it isn't. It says "Adopt Me" on it, and he caught it at the 4th of July parade the month before our wedding.

I suppose we're the only two that know that, though, so maybe people will just think it's a LiveStrong one and worn for a good cause.
  • Good morning!

Is it Friday afternoon yet?  This has been the longest week ever.

  • Once we get into the dancing photos, it's NBD. But I am bummed it's in the ceremony photos and the ones of our rings... oh well! Nothing we can do now, and neither he nor I noticed it that day either.

Which I suppose serves to show just how much you WILL miss on the day... take note brides b!tching about what people will wear, the centerpieces not being just right, etc.
  • Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, Bay?  WHY?

Kelly, I noticed all that schitt.  Even through all of the truly disastrous things that happened, I still noticed the jackass in jeans and an untucked shirt and that our centerpieces were wrong.
  • Gah. I'm waiting for permission to transfer sections for one of the courses that I'm in (so I'll be taking it two days a week instead of one night a week)... the section I want to get into has openings and I already have approval from the professor for it, but since it's outside of my major I need departmental authorization to register for it (even though I'm already authorized for the same course, but a different section).

I put in the request Monday morning. Still haven't heard anything, and the section I want meets for the second time in ~2 hours (I already missed the first meeting). My advisor said she was going to talk to the department first thing when they opened at 9 AM and would e-mail me right away. Still nothing. I have a 75ish minute commute, so I really need to know ASAP whether I should plan to be there for the noon class or not (and whether I will be staying on campus until 7 tonight or not).

    I hate my university...
