I have a tramp stamp. A green Celtic knot heart. I was 18 when I got it and am thankful it is located where it is, I don't have to see it all the time! If I did, I am sure I would hate it. :)

I have a small one on the back of my neck!  :)

(I love telling people that I have a tattoo on my neck... you should see the looks I get... and the glances down to my throat to examine me, until they figure out its on the back)

It's the "Mother's Love" symbol (a mother looking over a child) - for my Mom and for my daughter.

Here it is!  (ignore all the baby hairs)

Nope.. but I've considered. Doubt it'll ever happen though

None for me.   I'm not a fan unless you have something really significant to symbolize...but I don't.

I wanted one just for fun when I was younger but I'm so glad I never got one.

I have three.  They are all small though and easy to cover up.  One is on my shoulder blade and is the chinese symbol for twin (my twin and I have the same one).  Another is on my ribcage.  It is a heart with six stars going down the side.  The stars represent the people in my family.  My last one is on the stop of my foot and says "strength."  I drew it and it has a very specific meaning to me.  Do I regret any of them?  Sometimes, but I am glad I got them.  They all hold some kind of meaning for me.  Am I going to cover them up at the wedding?  No way!  If I did that, then it would have been pointless for me to get them in the first place!

EDIT:  Here are two of my tats.  I can't find a picture of the one on my foot.

I think some are cool and I loved Miami Ink but I do not have any nor do I have plans to get one.  I'm not a fan of needles.

I have the tramp stamp, its a tribal design and I'm like Leslie, if I could see it on a daily basis I'd hate it.  I also have an Orchid on my foot.  My sister and I were suppose to get it together but she won't get it now.  It is to represent our grandfather who passed away when we were in middle/high school.  DH hates tattoos so I won't be getting anymore but I'm happy that I have the ones I have now.

I don't have any.  FI has three, don't know if he'll get more.  He had plans to get a whole sleeve, but stopped when we got together because his money started to go towards other things like rent, bills, the wedding and later a house and kids.

I have four.  A frog on my lower left back that is pretty large and I LOVE and then a fairy on my shoulder that me and bestfriend got together (they are not matching but are still a symbol of our friendship).  The other two I regret for the most part one is a tribal that goes from the back of my neck down to between my shoulder blades then directly below that I have a butterful that fills up the whole space between shoulder blades.

I want some. Actually, I want many (wouldn't mind having all of those plus many piercings) but I, like a PP, don't do needles! Shots, drawing blood, etc. I can't do it! IF I did have the guts to get one, it would be my son's name, since he'll always be my son. As far as where...probably somewhere on my shoulder.

I've got two. An elephant on the back of my neck for my dad who passed and a tribal heart design on my lower back.

I have two niether of which mean anything thay are just pretty.
    1) a pink rose on my left shoulder - Will not be covering it for the wedding.
    2) a Cherry blossom on the top of my foot

Working finding the right tatto artist and the perfect picture of the next one that will represent the challenges that my daughter and I have been through and how we have overcome those challenges and become the people we are today.

Ooh Brianna - I like it.

I don't have any.  I'm considering it, though.  DH and I wanted to get tattoos while we were on our HM.  But, we are dorks and could never decide on anything.  My mom has a butterfly on her back - top left.  I've really considered getting a butterfly tattoo there as well.  So we can be the same.

    Here is my list..
-chest - right: "black" (purple) skull-cherries; left: red skull-cherries
-middle back - sacred heart with my last name (represents dad's side of the family)
-upper middle back - japanese luck cat (maneki neko) with symbolism and viking runes for my maternal grandparents)
-shoulder blades - left: kanji (japanese) "love" with flames; right: kanji (japanese) "hate" with icicles
-left upper arm (cap sleeve) - modified Lone Star Beer label, w/ a wind-up armadillo and yellow rose, leopard print background
-filler between left shoulder blade and leopard print - my best friend's art (she has some matching elements): purple clouds, diamonds, swallow skeleton, lipstick, bullet (says "you" on it)
    -right hip - "13"
-right thigh - unicorn skull ("day of the dead" style)
-feet: stars (my sister has stars on her feet, too)

    ... and more to come!
YES mine will show in my dress... and I honestly hope I have money to get more work done before the wedding :)
    (as unlikely as that is)
You can kinda see some of mine in my pics on my bio (and here).

YES my FI has tattoos, too - and loves mine :)

ETA: my FI and are actually kind of talking about getting matching tattoos (NO NAMES THOUGH) while in Las Vegas for our ceremony)

My FI is a "tattoo guy"... he has both sleeves done!  He wants to get more before the wedding too... lol.

He is superstitious with it too, no names for him either.  I guess it's like an unspoken rule!

Leo symbol on the back of my neck

@Brianna - My man eventually wants sleeves - he has several fairly large pieces on his arms... I hope to have a LOT more coverage eventually!

Yeah, in the "tattoo world" it's considered one of those bad luck/cursed things...  I joke with my FI that I'll totally get his name tattooed on my neck chola style on our 50th wedding anniversary (at which point I will be 80)

So, yeah - symbolism & matching: ok... names of anyone other than blood relatives: no-go. :)

On a side note - if anyone needs good artists, I can recommend several (Dallas & Austin)
  • edited December 2011
Diana - who do you recommend in Dallas?  I really want to get a butterfly, so my mom and I will both have one.

    No tattoos.
They are not my style.. but in my teenage years and early 20s, I had a belly button ring and had the cartilage in both my ears pierced. I removed all those piercings years ago... but still have a lovely scar from where the belly button ring used to be.

I have a shooting star on my back between my shoulder blades from when I was in Barcelona while doing study abroad 5 years ago. I won't be covering it up for the wedding. It looks like this one of Pink's (minus the big fairy):

I have the face of a tiger in my inner right ankle.

I want to get another one: An easter Lilly with a cross, to me that would signify re-birth and the completion of a big transformation in my life. But I have no clue where to go here in Dallas??

    Any suggestions?

I have Texas on my right hip. I hate it and seriously regret it. It is pretty small. But it is just meaningless and stupid. I was a freshman in college and had had a few drinks before hand. My mom said when I get pregnant it will turn into the United States of America. Hello, regret.

Ditto.  I pierced my belly button when I was 18.  I took it out when I was around 22 or 23.  It's not a pretty scar.

Caleb Barnard is fantastic.  He is at Saints & Sinners in Dallas (the Bishop Arts District/Oak Cliff) - 408 W. Davis st. Dallas TX. 75208 - I have not been to this location yet, but have known him for years.  He has done work on myself, my sister and my brother in law.

Otherwise - Hold Fast on Greenville Ave (next door to Blue Goose, across from Stan's Blue Note & The Dubliner).  Overall a great shop (and I think you'd be safe with any artist there - as that is part of their good reputation) - Jeff Brown does great work, as does Kira Leseman. No work by either yet on me, but they are on my list... Kira has always been a great artist, and she used to do all my piercings. She started tattooing a few years ago, she recently tattooed one of my BMs skull (she has a "feminine mohawk" if that makes sense) and it looks gorgeous.

Love and Hate in Lewisville has a good reputation overall as well, but I'd look through portfolios before picking an artist.

If you wanna get work done in Austin, Kelly Barr is amazing (just moved back down there so he's not full time at a shop, but is renting a space at a shop for requests)

Yes, there are other good artists/shops out there - but these are the ones I trust and like best. :)

Me and my FI just got our second tattoos together in San Marcos and that weekend Kelly Barr was a guest there filling in for another artist and he was the most genuine guy I have ever met. We are considering going to him if we go back to Austin for more ink.

    I have two:
a butterlfy between my shoulder blades

They both have special meaning to me and I have no intention of covering them up for my wedding. My FI also has tats as well and we intend on getting more.

FI and I both don't have any tattoos.

When I was younger I wanted one, but I printed off designs I liked and stuck them to the wall. After 3 weeks normally I was sick of it. So I never could pick one..womp womp!
