My cats are Mischief (orange tabby) and Trouble (grey tabby).  Mischief is two, and Trouble is three.  They are very, very well named cats.  Affectionate, but remarkably skilled at getting into things they shouldn't!

My 60 pound furball of a dog, Lorrie, who puts other "fur"babies to shame in sheer quantity of fluff is 9 years old.  They love me, I love them.

this is my baby Artemis. as in the greek goddess of the hunt. she is half chihuahua and half jack russel terrier. she is the best of both breeds. playful but  not hyper. she has a quiet bark which she rarely uses. she sounds like she had her barker removed.  she is a snuggler. my SO got her for me for our first christmas together. she loves to sleep in between us and will force her way in if we are snuggled together w/o her. the first photo is when my SO accidently gave me two tylenol pm instead of tylenol and i passed out in a room full of people with my puppy. the other is her trying to eat the towel i used to dry her off after her first bath. she was  not happy about being wet.

This is Avie. He doesn't have fur. He is starting to turn pink because of one of his toys. He is a big baby. He likes oatmeal with orange juice mixed in. He likes to walk around on the floor.

I now want a bird.  I had one named Romeo once, but he flew away.  Anywho, my furbabies...

This is Starr, with her winter coat on.

    Missy

Dixie, stubby, bubbles *these are my dads, but I've been with all of them since birth, except for Dixie who we've had since 6 weeks old.  She is the mom of the other 2.

This is mine and my FI's dog Shayla. She is an English setter mix that is amazing.  She will be AW'd more in the future.

Instead of baby fever, I have puppy-fever, and this thread is *not helping*...

Audgie, why type of bird is that?  I lived with a scarlett macaw (my roommate owned him) for a few months, and I can honestly say that I never, ever, ever want to own one myself.  Dear god in heaven, those squawks were spine-rippingly loud.

My dog is Gemini.  I don't have any pics of her on this computer, but she's half German Shepherd, half Border Collie.  And she's ADORABLE.

I dressed her up as FI for Halloween.  I put his shirt and tie on her.  Then we took her trick or treating.

    Ok, here we go:

    The dog is Sawyer:

The orange cat is named Fred (after Fred Weasley):

The big black cat is named "Little Kitty."  He was just a tiny kitten (see below pic) when we got him, and I never broke the habit of calling him Little Kitty, even though his official name was Count.

And here's BF with Luna (yellow) and Sadie (black):

They live with his parents until we get a house with a backyard, which will probably be next fall.

Well, those 2 are Missouri Foxtrotters.  I've had Quarter horses all my life. Grew up with cutting horses, reining, and western pleasure.  Now it's all about the trail riding, which on a gaited horse is sooooooo much easier.  I rode a quarter horse once, and I swear I lost 20 pounds.

I dreamed about horses all my life until as an adult, I was like, I'm finally going to learn how to ride!  That's been an ongoing process.  :)  I'd love a horse of my own...  I haven't yet ridden a gaited horse though, or done any trail riding.  I primarily ride English.

Western saddles always make my knees hurt.  Aren't I too young to be complaining about my knees going?

@ noelle- He's a Goffin's Cockatoo. They're the smallest of the cockatoos, but he can be LOUD. Thankfully, not as loud as most of the bigger birds, but sheeesh. He's really good at not screeching though, but he has his moments.

He's super cuddly. He loves to be petted and scratched. If I stop abruptly, he will nuzzle and try to get under my hand for me to continue, just like a kitty.

I am usually happy enough to put up with a western saddle because it means I'm on a horse!  I was down in Arkansas about 6 weeks ago at Beaver Lake.  Very beautiful.

Weird though--you're the first person to mention English saddles make their knees hurt.  I've only ever heard it the other way around!  Only my left one too.  The stirrup contraption on the Western saddle just twists my leg wrong.

Maybe I just had the stirrups on the English saddle too short?  It might not be so bad, as I don't have a full experience since I've only ridden English once.  I know that some Western saddles are hard, but we always "treat" the stirrups with a broom stick lol.  Every time we put the saddle up, we put the broom stick thru them so it will be trained to position the same way your feet are.  If that makes any sense. It's hard to explain!

This is Chibi, the cat that BF and I got when we lived togther the first time. She is now 7 years old, and very very prissy. The best thing about her is her one white wisker, the rest of her is all black and fluffy. She only likes to snuggle if she can be under the covers with you in bed. But she really is a sweet kitty, underneath it all :)

And this is Madeline (aka Maddie). I got her when I was living by myself a few years ago. She has a bum hind leg b/c she was hit by a car at about 5 months old, before I adopted her. She was taken to the local shelter, where they thought she would have to lose her leg, but a vet donated his time and saved it. She's 3 now, and runs a liitle funny, but other then that she is fine!

I like looking at other people's pets. :) Almost as much as I like looking at other people's wedding jewelry.

I've only been on a horse once. Last year. And it was on a trail. I thought it was neat :)

@ Coastie.  I love the image of someone taking a broomstick to saddle.  I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but my imagination is having a field day.

I don't know the parts of the western saddle very well, but my problem is more with the huge wrap that goes on stirrup-foot part.  It twists my foot uncomfortably.  I also prefer less leather because I feel like it gets in the way of my leg aids.  I rationally know that's not the case, but it just feels like that when I ride western.

For English stirrups, did you feel like they were too short?  I think your leg should rest at the same place in terms of height for whether you're riding English or Western.

@ Audgie.  Riding is FABULOUS.  Horses are like giant dogs, but better because you can ride around on them.

Haha Audgie. I went on a ride in Jamaica once in the ocean, any time you ever have a chance to ride, I would.  But that's just me and maybe cuz I grew up on horses.

@cunning, we don't have the huge wrap that goes over the stirrup.  As far as the broomstick goes...we twist the stirrups in the way that you would when you ride and stick the stick in there so that it holds the stirrups in place.  So instead of the stirrups going straight down they are trained to turn in the way it would be when you're riding them.  SO hard to explain lol.  The English was probably too short, but didn't do any changes because it was someone else's horse and I was only riding for a short period of time.  When you gonna get this horse?!?! You need to!

@ Audgie:  *snort*  That's hilarious--and all the more reason to ride the horse, not the dog. :)

@ Coastie:  That makes significantly more sense now. Yeah, it's no fun messing with someone else's tack.  I want tack of my very own!  Course, I need that horse first...

I would love a horse TODAY, but I'm doing a practice trial run for board/misc. expenses for awhile to make sure I can afford one.  I don't want to get one, fall in love, and then have to give it up because I can't afford it.  So every month, I'm transferring money into the horse account.  I hope very, very much to be able to use it for a horse and tack, maybe as early as spring!  I'm a graduate student though, so it's good to do a longer saving/money trial first, I think.

Good luck on that!  Bad thing about horses is the continued expense on them.  If you ever need to know anything message me!  I don't know everything there is to know about them for sure, but I have been on a horse ever since I was 6 months old. But I feel like I learn something new everyday.
