Bridal Party's Shoes???

I've had an idea to let my girls buy their own shoes. This is because they are already having to buy their dresses and the only shoes that would be the exact color (plum) are at the bridal place and cost at start $50.  I was thinking they could easily find some charcoal grey strappy sandles for much cheaper then they could buy shoes in a style they will be able to wear again.  have any of you done this?  if so, how did it work out?

    I put together a Pinterest board with shoe suggestions--pumps, sandals, or flats in gold, bronze, brown, or nude shades. I'm letting them choose their own that fit within those guidelines. We'll see how it turns out!

    I am letting my girls choose all their own accessories, partly because I can't afford to buy them myself if I did the choosing, and partly because I really like the idea of letting their individual style and personality shine through.  I just asked them to stick with nude and then gave free reign otherwise.  I think it's going to be pretty!  :)  And I've seen enough pictures of "mismatched" bm dresses to know that eclectic is not a bad thing.

    that's kinda what I was looking forward to J&K.  I like the idea of their personalities standing out because they are all soooooo different. I'm buying them Pearls for their jewelry but I think i'm gonna let them choose their shoes as long as they're charcoal grey.  The plum dresses with charcoal shoes will go nice with the guys in charcoal gre suits and plum vests and ties with Fedoras.

    I think it's a better idea to allow the girls to pick their own shoes for a few reasons. First, it's difficult finding a shoe that fits everyone comfortably, plus if they pick their own shoes they are more likely to wear them again. For example, my sister (MOH) is 6'0'' and never wears heels, but some of my BMs love wearing high shoes. I wouldn't make my sister wear a 3 inch heel, and I wouldn't make my shorter BMs wear flats if they wanted to be taller. I told my BMs they could wear any silver shoe. The girls' dresses are a silvery purple color, so I think silver shoes will mesh well.  I also figured they might already have a pair, so they won't have to buy them! 

    BTW, I love your colors! I think the plum dresses and the charcoal gray suits will look great in photos!!
