I'm a Walters Commons bride, no experience with The Links.  A must for us was a place where we could BYOB to save on costs, so WC was the second place we looked and fell in love with it.  You have 2 choices of caterers, Mass Appeal and Berwick.  We are going with Mass Appeal because we really liked Sarah right off the bat when we toured the Jessing Center.  I have had experiences Berwick before (work events) and liked them too.

We liked Walters Commons because you don't have to do much to the space, it's roomy, and (this might sound silly) we toured it on a 94 degree day and it seemed like it would stay nice and cool, since our wedding is the middle of the summer next year.

I'm also a Walter's bride.  I have never been to The Links in New Albany so I can't compare, but I too fell in love with Walters at first sight.  The BYOB, proximity to downtown, free parking, and flexibility were what sold us (besides the fact that it's a stunning space).  We pretty much get the space the entire day until midnight and if there isn't another event the night before, you can usually set up then.  Both caterers were great and VERY accomodating.  We are going with Berwick because we just liked their food better.  I know several people who have had their receptions there and they all raved about it.  We went to a formal charity event there last summer and had a great time.  I highly recommend Walter's Commons, but book early because they work around the school schedule and have several events held throughout the year.  You may have to be flexible with your date if you haven't already set a date if you really want to book the space.

How did you get to look at WC? I called the school and left a message to ask for more information using the number someone had posted on here...and no one ever got back to me. :-(

They're gone for most of the summer, so you probably won't be able to get a hold of anyone for another week or two :-/  You could try contacting one of the caterers (Berwick or Mass Appeal) and see if you could see it set up for a reception.

    Hey girls..
I'm sort of new on the forum and i will appreciate any help i can get..
I'm thinking of walters common or marian center.. But i'm concerned i won't be able to bring my own caterer to walters common..
I'm on a budget so my aunt is doing all my cooking for me.. (she owns a restaurant)
We are invinting 300 and expecting 250 at most.. or maybe 350 (if they decided to bring one to many plus 1s).. who knows?
Well, any suggestions? the wedding is for september 8th 2012 and i'm already freaking out because September is almost over and it'll be 11 months to go without a venue..
    Please help!
    Thanks

You have to choose Mass Appeal or Berwick for WC.

I *think* the Marian Center has a list of vendors also (check their website), but it may be too small of a venue for you anyway.

ETA: It may be pretty tough to find a venue that large that allows you to bring your own food/caterer.  Venues that allow it are few and far between, and the only ones I can think of are around 200 (or less) max capacity.
