In suite reception-Catering

Hi, Were planning a in-suite reception at the Mandalay , I received a qoute from Materpiece catering and it came to 750.00 for about 15-20 people. Is that the normal price going for catering? does anybody know of any other good catering companies?

Another question...Do you think we should just do appetizers or a full meal? The lady I was spekaing to at Materpiece said most insuite receptions only do appetizers.

Thanks in advance.

Re: In suite reception-Catering

  • If you're having your reception around a traditional meal time, then I'd offer your guests a complete meal, although I think Masterpiece has a 'heavy apps' option which basically has a variety of food that you could easily eat enough of to make it into a meal.  That might be something to consider, but I'm personally still of the mindset that if you're having an event at a meal time, offer a meal.

For the pricing, that's pretty reasonable for catered food; certainly less than the hotel would charge to do the same thing.

It depends on your menu, are you doing heavy apps & buffet style etc? They quoted me $950 for 50 people 6 different heavy apps and 1 salad. $750 seems to be on the higher scale $$$ for 15-20 people but i think that's their minimum to deliver to your in suite reception regardless.

  • I am getting married at Mandalay Bay, Valley of the Falls and I am looking at different reception options. May I ask which suite you are staying in and approximate upgrade cost if you don't mind sharing. If you do I understand. Thank you.

  • I'm looking to do the exact same thing for my wedding next year and I want to use Masterpiece as well.  However, Mandalay said I can't use outside caterers.  Can you tell me how you got around this?  I'm looking at having 50 ppl for my reception.  Also, I agree that $750 is a little high, but it depends on how many trays of food you're having.  They also quoted me around $950.
