Wedding Invitations & Paper

When did you order invites?

When in the planning process did you order invites?  My date is 9/25/10, and I want to get going, but I'm not sure if I'm jumping the gun.  Thanks!

Re: When did you order invites?

  • Find out how long the kind you're interested in getting are going to take to order/print/ship. Ifyou're going to have calligraphy done and will have to send everything away, then maybe start thinking about it. If you're getting from the store or will just have to put them together, then worry about it beginning of the summer.
My wedding last year was 9/19, we mailed out about 5 weeks before, and started putting them together in June or so.
    Good luck!
  • You need to have them ready to mail about 2 months before the wedding.  So, consider how long it will take you to put them together, and how long to get printed, etc.

  • I found this on a website:
Save the date cards can be mailed a year before your wedding day.Ideally, your invitations should go out 2 months before your wedding day. This should give your guests plenty of time to plan and save your special day on their calendar. InStyle Wedding Magazine recently recommended you start your wedding stationery order 6-9 months before your wedding day. So be sure to plan ahead! Especially if you want unique custom stationery!Mail wedding announcements on your wedding day.
  • Hey!!! You're my date twin!  I'm planning on DIYing my invitations. I'm printing and putting together pocket folds and plan to order iat the end of April and start putting together in May, mail toward the middle of June.
