^lookit, a magnet to stick on the car so the kid has to stay attached to it while you dink around in the parking lot
dumbest idea ever.
(okay, not dumbest.  but up there)

For cereal, that's why you nail their feet to the asphalt, no?

I actually want these.  It would give a visual and consistent place for 6let to stand while I get m2.

Wait - you're relying on the child to stand there with her hand on the spot? If you can train her to do that, you can't train her to stay with you? To get in her seat by herself?

I had problems with Bacon darting into parking lots, into traffic, into people. I bought a leash. Problem solved! I'd just clip her to my belt and shorten that puppy up and I could use my hands to carry things and know that she was safe.

    This thing is dumb.

6, can't you put a 'support our troops' magnet on it and call it good?
more fun to trace the inside of the ribbon cutout w/ fingers too.

(If you DO decide you need them, they're 1/2 price at babyhalfoff.com)

My mother used to get me to race her into fastening my seat belt.  When I was little, it was who could get in the seat the fastest.  Then as I got older, it was who could get in the car and buckle up first.  Of course, I always won if it was just the two of us - she needed to open/unlock and shut the door behind me.  I thought it was the most fun ever and created a great habit of buckling up.

'Cause I never thought of the ribbon.  I'll probably end up doing nothing, but there have been times I've thought it would be halpful.

I think it's a good idea to have a special place the kids know to wait if needed, but I don't think a specific magnet is needed for it.

But while we're talking about small children, my step-dad's sister used a neat technique to get her children to eat vegetables. When her daughters were just learning how to open the fridge, she started keeping vegetables on the lowest level. They would want anything they could get their hands on, which ended up being the veggies. They didn't care about the taste, they were just happy to be so triumphant.
