Non-pocket fold invites

At the risk of sounding stupid, for those of you who are not doing pocket fold invitations, what are you doing with your reception card, rsvp card & return envelope?
Pocket folds are out of my budget, but I simply have no clue to do with those extra cards... do you just stick them in the envelope with the invite, use a belly band to secure them together, etc.? Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Non-pocket fold invites

  • I use the gatefold cards from Cards & Pockets, placed a belly band around the outside and dropped the RSVP/Directions cards down inside my invite. I think it would be great to make a belly band to hold all of your cards in place.

  • I'm not sure what your budget is, but micheal's has many pocketfold invitation kits.  I purchased a kit from there that was 30 invitations with all of the insert cards, labels, seals, etc. on clearance for $19.99.  They are normally $39.99 I believe. However, there are always 40% off coupons that would make this very reasonable.  If you are up for printing at home, I really think those prices are very inexpensive and the quality was great.  Many people were surprised to hear that we printed them ourselves.

  • Lots of people don't use pocketfolds. All of the cards just get layered in the envelope.

On the very top is the rsvp card, tucked under the flap of the rsvp envelope. Under that is the reception card. Under that goes any other inserts, in size order from smallest to largest. The invite is on the bottom. No belly band, no nothing.

  • I saw a bride who recent didn't what she called a kangaroo pocket. It seemed simple enough to make and would be fairly keep as well. Basically what she did was use a piece of card stock and glue the invite to the front, then on the back she had folded up a piece of the card stock to great a pocket. All her other information like RSVP, map, etc went into the pocket. I think she also placed a decorative ribbon around the invite that served a dual purpose as decoration and also helped hold all the extra pieces in.

It was a neat idea and an idea that I am considering using. It seemed easy enough and cheap enough. I don't have the talent or money to purchases pocketfold invites but its a nice middle ground.

I made a landscape pocket fold using 12x12 cardstock from Michaels. I can get two pocketfolds from each sheet of paper for 69 cents. Similar to the ones on "Road to the Aisle" but smaller, since my starting length of paper was only 12". The result fits perfectly inside an A6 envelope.  Anyways, my first sample came out great, and I'd be happy to give you the dimensions if you want to try. I can post a picture later tonight when I am home.

So far, I'm in love with them!

  • I have a belly band and I'm tucking them under that. The order is largest on the bottom, working their way up to smallest on top. Then the RSVP card gets tucked under the envelope flap and goes on the very top.
