Nates- The hard core pro-lifers I know do consider it a life or death issue. And it is the issue that decides who they will vote for. They will not vote for someone who is pro-choice. Period. And haven't you heard, the recessions over. :P

Oh, I know. I'm just saying for me, personally. I'd rather see, and vote for, someone who is addressing the changing atmpsphere of our country and economy, rather than bring up an old issue that is so polarizing.

I concur.

Also, I wish someone would tell my potential patients that the recession is over. I could use the work.

I want to be one of your special needs pets.

My needs are:
1. A pretty constant stream of humorous anecdotes and/or pictures
2. Real pets, both to care for and to be my friends :)
3. A junk punch free pass, so I can junk punch when necessary and be defended with "Oh, we haven't trained her yet!".
4. Chocolate.
• I'm pretty strongly pro-life actually so I don't entirely disagree with these politicians to be honest ... they are VERY firm in their beliefs and in their opinions a human life is a human life no matter HOW it comes into being. I'm not sure that I entirely agree with these politicians but I certainly see where they're coming from.

I don't just vote for politicians who are pro-life though! I think a lot of politicians campaign on a strong pro-life/anti-abortion platform just to try to get votes from the religious faithful and then they don't really do anything when they're in office, they just use the anti-abortion platform for votes. Plus a lot of pro-life politicians are also anti-gay rights and have whackjob views on other issues so I don't agree with them much haha.
I do, however, think abortion is a poor form of birth control. It is physically and emotionally a hardship for the woman involved, whether or not you believe that the fetus has rights. I have known a few girls that had more than 1 abortion because they weren't on birth control. I don't care how much sex they had; I'm all for sex. What I find ridiculous is that they had abortions because their parents had never put them on birth control. I, personally, think that girls should have the right to get on birth control when they are sexually active, without parent involvement. Different issue, I know. I just think that young women don't always realize just how tough abortion is.
Posted by jasmineh7777
I agree with this.

My point was that someone who says "abortion should be illegal because some women use it as a form of birth control and that's irrepsonsible!" is overreaching. If it's not murder, then it's really no one else's business, KWIM?

I do believe girls should have the right to receive birth control without parent involvement.

• I dont take anything that the Huffington Post writes seriously. That paper has a clear agenda.

I also dont take much stock in who Dianne Edmondson claims to be on her side.

As far as abortion is concerned, unless you have been forced to make that decision or not, I dont think it should be judged. Its easy to say that you would never do it, until you are faced with it.

I am pro-choice, however I wish there was more offered when it comes to the aftermath of an abortion. These woman need help dealing with the guilt and post traumatic stress, regret, and depression that comes along with making that choice. Maybe if these girls knew the lifelong pain that comes along with an abortion, they would make a different choice.

Or maybe they wouldnt. Who knows.
And how can the group that backs this be against government control of everything, yet rally for the government to control what we do with our bodies?

This.
Pro-choice and Pro-life aside, the hypocrisy of this is gross.

The pro-life advocates say it's different because there is a human life now involved and someone needs to speak up for it.

Someone needs to speak up for the woman involved in the forced pregnancy.

So, totally random idea made by a random friend of mine online that made me lol...

If Pro life women think women who are raped shuld be forced to carry the child, then they should be, too. In other words, transplant teh baby into the Pro lifers womb so they can carry it around to term!

Is that even possible? :/

I did a study on abortion and and less than 1% of all abortions are done for reasons of rape and/or incest. Also if you are raped and you get a rape kit done they give you the morning after pill.

FTR, I'm pro-life and it makes me sick that people use abortion as a form of birth control; however I'm also realistic in that it is inevitable and women are going to do it whether it is legal or illegal so we might as well give them safe, clean places to go.

Also, I'm not sure what I would do if I were in a situation where my health was dependent upon an abortion, in that if I were to give birth I would die. DH says he would want me to abort it but I would really struggle with that one. That's probably the only situation in which I agree with abortion to an extent.

It's estimated that only 37% of rape cases are reported to the police, so that less than 1% could skewed.

I could definitely see that. I still stand by my point, though, that most abortions are done as a form of birth control. I just don't think that abortion is a human right, just like I don't think that healthcare is a right or that higher education is a right (all for different reasons of course). Nor do I think that abortion is a privelage, something to be enjoyed for personal gain or benefit.
