NWR: Bug bites

I have like 7 on each foot. Any suggestions for home remedies to help with the itch that is keeping me awake?

  • Tea tree oil is supposed to help. So is washing the area off with water, but I gather you've already done that? And Calamine lotion.

Although really, I think the most effective thing is not touching them... hard to do, but once you do touch them, they always get a thousand times itchier!

I presume we're talking about mozzie bites?

  • Hydrocortisone cream?

This happened to me last week. It looked like I had chicken pox; it was ridiculous. Itched like a biitch.
  • i think they are a combo of mozzie and chiggers or flea bites. I got them on Monday night doing engagement pictures lol my feet started burning and got really itchy. ive tried hydrocortisone cream, soap and water, toothpaste (burns, dont do it), now i'm using fi's oral lydocaine gargle to try to numb the area. i just want them to dry up and heal.

  • vodka

higher proof the better will take the itch away in seconds!

I learned this in the BVI where medicinal alcohol cost $5 and 100 proof booze was 99 cents.
  • niiiice. so after i use it on the bites, i drink it? :-) 2 for 1! <3 it.

  • You could try calamine lotion if you've got some in the house. Also benadryl might at least help with the itching and make you tired enough to sleep.

  • Avon's SKIN SO SOFT can be used before you go out to repel biting bugs,
and can be used on bug bites to reduce the itchiness and encourage healing.

And before someone reports me, I do not sell Avon, I have never sold Avon, I have never used any Avon product myself.  I go to a store on 580 just west of Belcher that sells Avon off the shelf - and I buy it for my mom bec her doc recommended it.

Calmine lotion usualy works for me and they also make a Benadryl creme. Ugh, I feel you, chigger bites are the worse bc they can itch for like a week.

Have you ever read about chigger bites? It will gross you out. H & I got bit by them a lot one time last year and they itched for like a week. Whatever you don't don't dig them too much bc you don't want to get nasty scars.
  • On feet, probably not chiggers, unless they're at a sock line or shoe strap line. If so, put clear nail polish on them.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Calamine lotion is crap unless they're open and weeping. I'm allergic to the mosquitos here in IL, and I've tried EVERYTHING. I ended up in urgent care because they were so bad. Huge, like the size of eggs, bright red and dark purple, and super painful. The doctor basically told me to stay inside, that bitch. But putting an ice pack on them with help with the itching, since it sort of numbs them. Also, take a benadryl or 2, it may help. Or knock you out. Either way, good luck, I know how you feel.

  • Dang Sarah! Were they mosquitoes or horseflies? I've had horsefly bites do that and they hurt like hell.
