We get to DH's uncle's house. He lives in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. Saturday was cold and crappy.
They were setting up for the graduation party. There was tent, which helped to cut off some of the wind. We hung out, visited, and showed off DefConn.
We go in the house and there's this one year old little boy. DH's aunt (J) says he's her nieces baby and her niece is getting her nails done with the girls. He was a cutie pie. The niece gets back and if she's a day older than 16, I really am a 40 year old bachelor living in my mom's basement that pretends to be a 29 year old chick on the internet. My God she is young. I guess this is par for the course for DH's aunt's family. (J is only 3-ish years older than him (he's 32) and her daughter was the one graduating high school). She seemed like a good mom, but still I just couldn't help but think about how hard it was/is for her. Especially now that I have my own baby.
So this guy comes in and starts giving teen mom a hard time. He was drunk, or at least buzzed and all, "WTF are you doing wtih a baby?!", "You're too young to have a baby!", "Last time I saw you, you were this tall." and so on. The poor thing is so embarrassed and one of the other girls was yelling at him to knock it off. We found out later that he's J's stepbrother.
We eat dinner. Hang out some more...And then it happens...
I'm standing there talking to FIL and other family and I see J's mom go up and shove this lady. The lady starts freaking out and yelling about being punched in the boob (her speech is slurred 'cause she's drunk). J goes stalking after her mother yelling at her. J's sisters also follow J and their mom. J's mom comes back around the corner and screams at the lady that she was lucky it wasn't her face. They're all on the side of the garage screaming at each other. J rips the coffee cup of wine out of her mom's hands and dumps it out. J's mom stalks over to her motorhome and slams the door shut behind her. J and her sisters stand outside the motorhome and yell at each other.
All this time, the lady who got puched in the boob is going off. Just drunkenly ranting and raving. Turns out, she's J's stepmom. She will.not.calm.down. One of the sister's comes over and tries to placate her. Telling her that the mom didn't mean it and she just bumped into her and so on and so forth. Stepmom is NOT having it.
At one point, J's stepbrother comes over to DH's uncle (J's husband) and says, "If she hit my mom, something's going to go down man. I'm telling you, no one hits my mom." And he keeps sayingshit like that to DH's uncle for about 5 minutes. He's drunk, of course. DH's uncle is like, "Dude, get the eff out of my face."
So everyone calms down, sort of. One of J's sister's starts getting rowdy with tequila shots. She's hugging a bottle of Cuervo, saying it's her 'best friend'. Stepmom is still ranting and raving, but she's toned the level down a bit.
We decide it's time to go. I go in the house and J's dad is asking her what happened. I SO wanted to stay and eavesdrop, but the boys were waiting for me and DefConn was beyond ready to go back and settle down for the night.
