Weekend Update

I had a pretty fantastic weekend.  I was honestly hoping RDR would start this thread, since she's got the most to talk about :)

Friday night I had my first GS meeting as a troop co-leader, and it was pretty amazing.  One of my girls has down syndrome, so the other leader asked me to sit down and work with her every meeting for about 20-30 minutes to help her work on her Gold Award.  I'm really incredibly excited that I'm going to be able to help shape this girl's life.  My calendar basically exploded after that meeting, but I feel like it's 100% going to be worth it.  After my meeting I went to M's and his roommate destroyed us with another workout.  Both M and his one roommate that has done TM several times bet that I would finish TM before their other roommate.  5 Shots are riding on this.  It feels pretty fantastic that they think I'm going to rock this race.  TM Roommate thinks I'm going to basically destroy the boys in our group, M included.  And THAT is an awesome feeling.

Saturday I left super early and drove to Jersey for RDR's surprise shower and bach party.  We had a ton of fun, but I'll let her talk about it.

Yesterday I drove home with a massive hangover, which turned into a halfassed hangover.  I took a nap, got some food, and started drinking again, and that killed it for good.  I stayed at M's last night since I wasn't feeling great, and I really just wanted lots of snuggles.

This morning I saw M and his friends off to Charles Town for a morning of gambling, and I came back home - I'm planning on taking a nap, a hot bath, and then I have a GS Leader Meeting.  I need to be back at M's at 3 for the Man U game, and then we're supposed to go for a run.

Tomorrow I go back to work.  Boo.

How was everyone else's weekend?  Is everyone off today or do you have to work?

Our close friend Zola came into town this weekend because we had an anti-Scientology protest on Saturday -- it was the five year anon-versary, which means that Tyler and I met five years ago, yay! We also watched a bunch of really bad movies that were recommended by another friend then cleansed our palates by watching Amadeus.

This weekend was just quiet. It was quite nice.

    ETA protest pic, woo!:

  • Saturday, I drove up for rdr's shower but I'll also let her talk about that.  On the drive home, I started getting a massive migraine so I took a painkiller at 7:30 and went to bed.  Yesterday I worked really early (hence the not staying for bachelorette-ing Cry).  After work, H and I went for a run and I did laundry and cleaned the rest of the day.  Now I'm back at work again...hooray.

  • Well Saturday the FI and I surprisingly woke up rather early after a crazy evening of excitement from getting engaged. We went and had breakfast at the hotel and then drove to see his Dad and stepmom and my parents to tell them about our evening. That afternoon FI had a tennis match and then we went to go look at his new apartment to plan out where we would put furniture and stuff since he moves in a month from now. That night we went out with my family to celebrate my sister's boyfriend's raise and my mom's promotion.

Sunday we had church and FI had another tennis match. Then we went to buy a couch set for his new place that we got for an amazing price! I'll post a picture if I can find it on their website. Then we went and had dinner with my parents and one of my dad's coworkers.

Now, I'm exhausted at work and not motivated to do anything. That's usually the case for Mondays.
  • Sounds like everyone had a good weekend so far!

Friday night I got my manicure, went to Ulta and bought the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer and I'm in love!  Thanks all for the suggestions!  When I got home, my two girlfriends came over with a bottle of wine so we all sat around drinking wine and talking until about 11pm.

Saturday I dropped my car off to the Honda dealership for service, my friend picked me up from there and went to Trader Joe's, DSW and then to a Mexican restaurants for some food and margaritas.  I got home, made boyfriend dinner in the crock pot, he polished the whole thing off.

Sunday I cleaned the house and did laundry, had a bit of a BSC moment with bf and e-ring talk, then went to my friend's son's birthday party.

I'm at work today, I don't want to be here, I'd like to stay in bed, please.

  • This weekend was guys weekend for my FI and his friends. One of his friends is dating my best friend so we had a sleepover weekend at her house since they have a kid. We took my nephew so her son had someone to play with. Friday we just stayed at their house and made dinner, played Wii and watched movies.

The boys unfortunately woke us up at 6 am Sat, ugh. My friend's son's birthday was yesterday so we celebrated on Saturday by doing lunch, then going to dinner, and finally went swimming at our local indoor waterpark. They had a blast.

Once they went to bed some of our other friends came over and we just drank and played Just Dance all night and drank way too much.

Sunday, once I finally got home, I slept. FI was still gone so I popped in a movie and cuddled with the pups.

I had a pretty great weekend. Friday night BF and I went to a bar in the city and had some drinks and some foods. We shared this amazing 5-cheese macaroni & cheese, and an order of tater tots with spicy sauce. I also had 3 of these awesome drinks I'm going to have to get the ingredients for - sweet tea vodka and sparkling lemonade. YUM. Didn't taste the booze at all, but by the time I was done with #2 I had a serious buzz, and let BF finish most of #3. We talked a lot about his job, and his plans for looking for a better one, so that made me happy.

Saturday morning I made us pancakes, we snuggled and watched a little TV, then I headed out to LI for a day with my mom. She made me see a Dr. she knows to get this little lump under the skin in my neck checked out, but luckily he said it just felt like a cyst, and nothing needed to be done. He also gave me a general check up, and though I didn't want to look when I was on the scale, I did, and I was 3lbs less than I had been about 6 weeks ago when I last weighed myself. That made me soo happy, because I assumed I had gained a few.

Then me and mama went shopping at Marshalls for some stuff for my apartment. She bought me two cool square mirrors and two little canvas paintings. FINALLY I have stuff up on the wall behind our couch -  it looks great! I also found really cute flats for $40 that I bought myself. After that we had lunch at a diner nearby. She managed to mention more than once that all of her friends are becoming grandmothers, and she just can't wait until I have a baby. Although the wedding/baby talk can get annoying at times, I usually don't mind it because I'm just happy that she really likes BF, and wants him to be a part of the family. After we went back to her house, she made me watch an episode of Shameless, and then I made her watch an episode of Homeland, and then I drove back home.

Sunday I slept late, then BF and I got dressed in many, many, layers, and took Kaya to the dog park. It was FREEZING out, but there were still a few other dogs there, and she had a great time. After that we went to Trader Joes, and then came home to relax for the rest of the day.

And now, it's Monday, and I hate Mondays. Also, BF gets to be done working at 12 today, so I hate him. Hmph.

  • Your weekends are making me feel lazy.  RDR...tell us about the party!

I did nothing all weekend other than watch movies with FI, look for jewelry for the wedding (FI's mom wants to buy me a necklace for my wedding present, which is really nice but now I don't know what I want), walk, eat (more cheese) and drink.  Today FI and I are getting massages after all that hard work...it was his V Day present but I thought I would join in the fun.
  • My weekend was pretty good. I have off from work today. Yay!!

Friday we just stayed in watched a movie. I had rehearsal all day on saturday it was tiring but fun.  Saturday night BF and I went for dinner for Vday, to restauarant he surprised me with.  I was very happy with it his choice and it wasn't what I was expecting.  Sunday BF had a hockey game I had rehearsal, we stayed in after that with a hockey game then some walking dead.

In a little while we are planning on going to the mall to do some shopping.  I have quite a few gift cards to spend.

  • Friday was a work day and then Oscar picked the kids up from their moms.  We are all lazy and were in bed by 10:30, hahaha.

Saturday we spent most of the morning with the kids blowing up zombies ont he PS3 and Oscar and I surfing the internets.  Then we got everyone coralled into getting dressed and did some errands, including getting new phones and a new phone plan, which I am pretty excited about.  Spent most of the evening doing nothing...the boys are really into the Scrubs series so we've been slogging through that on Netflix.

Sunday we celebrated the Epic One's 11th birthday...bought him new baseball gear, then lunch at Taco Bell, then Laser Tag, then Chuck E. Cheese.  It was a very busy (and expensive) day but that kid had a grin on his face the size of Montana so I will not complain.  My bank account might later, but I won't.  We came home and he was crashed out by 9:30...I think we wore him out ;)

This morning is EO's actual birthday and he wanted McDonald's breakfast, so we trekked there and then to the bookstore.  Got some new good reads, which is exciting...even the boys found something, and for them, that can be difficult sometimes.  Now I'm making my lunch and I'm off to a half day at work :(  Oscar has the whole day off, so he'll hang out with them for a bit longer and then take them home to their mom's.

It was a very busy weekend, but I enjoyed it!

  • Also, I had about 4 people I know announce their engagements on Facebook this weekend. It's like BAM - suddenly everyone I know is getting married or having babies. It's very weird and is making feel old.

  • BAM, Hummingbird, it really does seem like everyone else announced their engagements this weekend.  It's kinda good thing because I'm hoping it distracts some "friends" from mine because they likely aren't getting invites.  Family > Friends in my book, ya know?

As for all my friends with babies?  Holy moly, I can't believe how OLD we are getting!  I'm still terrified of having children.  Hopefully that changes one of these days, lol, but I can wait until after we're married first I'd guess :)

  • I swear at least 10 people this year on my Facebook have gotten engaged and 2 or 3 have had kids. I'm surprised how well I have fought off my BSCness.

This weekend has gone by too fast. Friday some friends came over and I made dinner. BF and I watched "Flight" after they left which I thought was pretty good but, glad I didn't see it in the theaters. I makes me not want to fly anymore, lol.

Saturday I got my nails done with my sister, and then BF and I hung out at my paren'ts for a bit before going to the Cinnebar for dinner, drinks and a movie. We saw "Warm Bodies" which was cute and funny.

Sunday I went to lunch with a good friend of mine and then went and returned some clothes I bought that I decided I didn't really need. I don't want to go shopping until I drop at least 15 pounds...I swear my scale hates me. I keep gaining 1-2 lbs, then I'll lose it, then gain it...I guess I just have to be really strict on myself from here on out. I think I'm driving BF crazy with how much I hate the scale.

Today I am off work (thankfully). On Friday before I left I heard a guy from my department gossiping for like 10-15 minutes about another co-worker of mine. It really left a sour taste in my mouth because he's almost 40 years old and he's talking and spreading gossip like he's 15. Plus, the guy who he was talking about it a really nice guy and he was talking about stuff in his personal life. This is why you don't add co-workers you're not really close with on Facebook!

  • Friday night I hung out with some people from work. Saturday was our three year anniversary, and since we've been having problems and I'm not sure how things are going to continue I didn't want to make a big deal of it. We went to the outlet mall, did some shopping, bought a couple blurays and watched Ted on the couch. Yesterday ran a few errands and did laundry. All in all a relaxing weekend
  • Sounds like everyone had nice weekends.  Mine was really lovely too.

Friday night we went to dinner with some friends and their baby, who is adorable and I always want to snuggle.

Saturday, we hung out for pretty much the whole day and did a little homework and watch a movie.

Sunday we went to church in our hometown and saw our families.  Then we went over to my best friend’s house for dinner and had a glorious time until my allergies forced us to leave.

Today we are going for a walk, then he is going away and I am going to do homework.  I might go shopping this evening with a friend but I have to ask her to go first.  I really need to go shopping but I hate doing it alone.

  • Hi ladies!  I have the day off, but none of my customers do so my phone and email hasn't stopped ringing.  It really has defeated the entire purpose:(  Oh well!  I'm going to work on some more wedding stuff today.  I've sent out half our our STD's and am hoping to get the other half done today.  Plus, I'd like to call a couple florists and finalize the rehearsal dinner venue with FMIL.

This weekend was busy as usual.  Friday FI and I had his brother over for a bit, and were so exhausted we passed out by 11.  Guess we needed it.  Saturday I had my cousins baby shower at a really cute winery in the northwest burbs, and then headed down to my parents house for my birthday celebration with them.  My sister was in town for the shower, so we went out with a bunch of high school friends after and bar hopped.  We get together and have awesome dance parties.

Yesterday we were lazy and there was too much pizza.  FI and I stuffed ourselves and our starting our wedding diets today.  We've been awful since Thanksgiving and its time to get back on track.

I think it goes through phases where you notice it more.  Social media makes it much more noticable and in your face.  Your social circles tend to hit the similar milestones at the same times.  Especially if its something you want in your life.  So it can cause jealousy to rear its unwelcome ugly head.

Right now everywhere FI and I look its lots of babies and weddings.  Since 2013 started we've already had 3 baby showers and a christening.  On the wedding side we've got 6.  And this is a slow year for us.    I try not to add up all the money I've spent over the years.  It hurts to much to think about it.  I probably could buy a car with all the money spent at these events the last 13 years.

All of it could make you crazy.

Couldn't agree more!  I remember before FB, etc when you found out someone was prego when you got a baby shower invite (if it was someone you hadn't seen in a while lol).

TBH though, I haven't seen THAT many engagement announcements, just my best friend and no one has had babies in a while.  I just have a lot of friends (from HS and college) that I'm friends with on FB.  Maybe I should do some housekeeping and get rid of those people.

Don't add it up, my cousin and her husband did that one time, I thought she was going to freak out.  They could've bought a NICE car lol.

Agree with PP's about fb. Two friends had babies born on Valentine's Day and another got engaged. It's the same friend who was having me try on bridesmaid dresses last month.

I think my SO has baby fever. He's been seeing them everywhere.  We're halfway through out premarital counseling and yesterday he took me out to lunch after church and we talked about finances for getting married.  He said we could start planning and then we drove around and looked at houses. We've been talking about where we want to live for about a week.

This sat I'll be checking out one of our venue picks. He found out he'll have to work Sat so he's disappointed he'll miss it. Today I asked my mom to go with me.

My shopping trip earlier was so much fun.  I got a few cute things in Express including a new skirt for work.  We also picked up a few things from Sur La Table I love that store!  I also made BF go into Jared's I'd never been in one but it's fun to browse and look at sparklies.

  • I don't have baby fever either, but I have apartment and house fever. I'm really glad BF is into houses as well. He doesn't mind when I send him a bunch of links.

Did you find anything you liked at Jared's? It was one of the first places we went because we were driving and the navigator said it was the closest.

  • No house fever, just house stress we are closing hopefully in May on our dream home.   There were a few nice pieces of jewelry.  He's gotten a lot of jewelry for me lately so I didn't really hint at anything I glanced at the sparkly but quickly.  I've always told him I don't want to shop for rings together. I believe he does have the ring so I didn't want to comment on styles or anything.

  • This weekend was supposed to be awesome. It ended up with Donald getting sick, and our late Valentines Day plans being ruined. But the whole weekend wasn't lost.

Saturday, we headed out to the barn, where Bean and the princess had an awesome ride. They jumped their first triple combination and looked amazing doing it. I'm a proud mommy. Saturday night, Donald and I were supposed to go have dinner at a friend's little belgian bistro. Unfortunately, he woke up Saturday morning with the funk that he caught from me and Bean. We ended up eating pizza in bed. We'll try again this weekend.

Sunday, I started feeling like I was getting sick again, so I spent most of the day vegging on the couch and took a nice nap before going grocery shopping and making a giant pot of chili.

Yesterday, my dad came down and took Bean and I to lunch and then to Target to get Bean some little things as a reward for his continued straight A's. Then it was home to finish homework.

I'm sporting it now too!  I used it first on Saturday and my eye makeup stayed on from 8am until I washed it off at like 9pm.  The stuff is worth every penny!

I spent 77 bucks at ulta.  I went a little cray cray there.

That was the only thing I bought in Sephora.  Spent a lot of money in Express and Sur La Table.
