groomsmen's gifts

I was thinking about buying ties to give to our wedding party that they could wear in the wedding. Can this be considered the groomsmen's gift or do I still need to purchase something seperate since this is part of their attire?

(Side note: the reason I want to buy the ties instead of them renting with their tuxes is because I am doing my bridesmaids in different colors dresses ranging from midnight to oasis to concord (6 colors in all) so I didn't know if the tux place would have a color to match up with all of them!)

I think it would be nice to get them something else if your budget allows for that. Just a little something as a "thank you" that they don't actually "need" for your wedding. But maybe you should check with the tux place first...ya never know, they may have what you need :)

My FI decided to pay for the tux rentals themselves as his wedding gift - and they don't even get to keep those like they would a tie!  If you both think they would like that gift, I'd say go for it.  A guy can only have so many monogrammed flasks and beer steinsWink

So if I were to get them something else, does anyone have any good ideas of something unique and usefull. I am with EJ that the flasks and been steins just won't do. BTW, EJ--- I see 3 days until your wedding, very exciting congratulations!

We are giving our groomsmen mugs of their favorite sports team...we thought about doing coolers though.  L.L Bean had some really nice ones.

How old are your groomsmen? Do they have their own places? My FI is getting his guys a nice set of grill tools...turners and spatulas and stuff

Three have their own places (one of which is married) 1 will be a freshman in college at the time (FH bro) one is 14 (my bro) and the other is 23 and lives with us (fh other bro) so most of them would appreciate a grill set I think. They are all pretty much meat-eating farm boys (except my brother).  I will probably have to get my brother something different anyway since he is at such a different point of his life than anyone else. I will probably get him something for the car he will soon be getting!! Should I just pick out individual gifts for everyone then and try to stick to a price range??

My Fiance got one of these Utlity Tools for a wedding that he was in this last fall and he loved it.
