Any venues ok with bringing in a caterer?

Hello!! This is my first post on these boards, I got engaged last weekend.

I am hoping someone can help me with this. We have a caterer we really want to use (it is his aunt) but I can't find a venue that is okay with using her. We are inviting about 300 people and would really prefer it to be north of the city. Does anyone have any ideas??

Ideally I would love a wedding and reception in the same place with more personality than a typical hotel ballroom...but at this point I am open for anything!

Hello!!! Congratulations on your engagement! I hope you post often.

I know in Oakmont Riverside Landing and the Greek Orthodox Hall (not sure what the exact name is) but they both let you bring in your own caterer. I think they hold about that amount too.

Hi & welcome! We looked @ Riverside Landing, the Greek Hall only holds 200 and there's three caterers to choose from.

Not sure how north of the city you are, but the only place I can think of is Laube Hall in Freeport. It can hold 300 and you can bring in your own caterer and alcohol. It's a pretty amazing venue.

This is south of the city, but the Holiday Inn in West Mifflin was going to let me bring my own caterer. Maybe other Holiday Inns in the north?

Can you ask your aunt for suggestions on places that she has catered before?

This question gets asked a lot here and I think the consensus is that there are barely any places that let you do this anymore, especially with that high of a number!

Perhaps LaFemme or jill, could this be added to the Knottie vendor list and the like? It seems that a lot of people are looking for this kind of resource, so maybe we can compile it all one place?

My friend has around your number and said that the Troy Firehall (I *think* that's what it is called) is really nice inside (she said it isn't great from the outside, but the inside is beautiful) and is letting her bring in her own caterer.

Regional Enterprise Tower also may allow it, but I don't think they hold your number.

I don't have many suggestions, but wanted to say Hello and Welcome!

I echo Kwynn's suggestions of the Mt Troy Ballroom (which is next to the fire department) is very nice inside. I was at a wedding there a month ago. The service was not that great, but the food was good.

I'm not sure about their catering, but it is worth a try!

Kwynn, good call. I don't think we should put it on the recommended vendor list since some of these are places where people haven't actually had their own weddings, but I can always add in a section on the Weebly site if that sounds ok.

Perfect, that's what I meant, maybe we can just sort of ask everyone to give places that they know you can bring a caterer to (any caterer, not a choice of three or something) and put a list on the Weebly or FAQ's or whatever :) If I can think of any more, I'll let you know!

Thank you Ladies so much!!! I looked into the Laube Hall and it seems to be exactly what i was looking for and just couldn't find. It is a little far away (I live in the Cranberry Twp. area) but I think we can live with it if everything is what it seems. I called the lady and left a message.

Does anyone have any idea of prices? I hope she calls me back soon...I'm getting excited!

I am still open to looking at any other venues if anyone thinks of anything.

Have you looked into using the Marriot North in Cranberry? I believe they let you bring in your own caterer and they can accomodate as many people as you would be having. Their weddings are goregeous.
