Tendenza Wedding Venue

Hello!

I am a newly engaged bride looking to get married in the Philly area in March of 2013. Anyone have any advice or suggestions of venues? So far my favorite is Tendenza and Trust but haven't gotten any information on prices.

Anything would help!

Thanks!

Re: Tendenza Wedding Venue

  • How many guests are you expecting? And what's your budget?  We can make other suggestions that would be helpful with this info.

Tendenza is beautiful.  They're owned by the Cescephe group.  I don't know prices exactly, but I believe they're in the $130-160 per head (inclusive) range.  They'll tell you that you can fit 250 guests there, but I wouldn't.  I went to a wedding with a little under 200 guests, and it was tight in the cocktail room and the ballroom ---- people dancing in between tables tight.  I really wouldn't try to fit any more than 200 in that room.

Trust is also great.  I think they do more of an a la carte thing - as in you'd pay one fee to rent the space, then you'd hire a caterer (they may have a list you're required to choose from) and bring in tables, etc.  That route can be great, but it can also add up.  Also, I think their capacity is smaller - like 100-150?  That's just what I recal reading in wedding magazines ages ago, though, so definitely follow up with them to verify.

  • Thanks for the info. We are trying to stay between 150 & 160 guests. I know Tendenza has a 160 minimum for a Saturday night which I'd prefer. Haven't really figured a budget. We want the food and venue to be great and we'll cut the budget in other areas such as flowers (not a huge flower person myself.)
  • Hi!

I booked Tendenza for September 2013.  It's definitely the 160 minimum at $150pp. The nice thing about Tendenza is that all of the alcohol is included, the cake, 20-30 hors d'oeurves during cocktail hour, and you can pick three entrees and your guests pick what they want that day.  Also included is all of the taxes, fees and gratuities, which is nice.

For us, a lot of our budget will be spent on the reception, but with all of that included, it makes it less stressful because you don't need to worry about a cake, or worry about the added taxes they don't mention. After checking out a lot of sites in the city, you have to remember that taxes are higher than the suburbs and if the price seems great, you need to make sure the taxes are added in there. I've heard stories about the taxes, fees etc., not being included and how thousands of dollars were added to the bill at the end.

I suggest coming up with a budget.  Without knowing, it was difficult because I wasn't sure what I could afford, especially with all the small details you forget about.  Once I had a number, I was able to not only eliminate places, but it also made me feel stronger about other ones.

My other piece of advice, check out as many places as you can.  Tours are free!  I got engaged in July and didn't decide on Tendenza until the end of November.

Good luck with wherever you pick!!! It's a tough decision, but just stay true to who you are, and pick somewhere where you can picture yourself getting married.
  • I LOVE Tendenza and really want to have my wedding there but we think we're going to have about 200 people at the wedding. Is it a really bad idea to have it there? I don't want to upset my guests by having them cramped and dancing in between tables? Thanks!

  • I am going to check out Tendenza today. We originally wanted VIE but they need a minimum of 200. I would check them out. It looks very modern like Tendenza but can probably fit your party much more comfortably. Also, the Atrium is nice but doesn't seem as modern.

I'll let you know about my visit to Tendenza today!
  • I'm a Tendenza bride, may 5th. I'm having about 200 guests and def a bit concerned about the space but I'm sure it'll work out. I love the Ambiance of it. If you're into the modern loft look then I say go for it : )
  • @ aarrgg - The space did look slightly small for 200 guests. I'm hoping to have between 140 & 160 which I think will be just enough. I would check out VIE or the Atrium. We liked them both but didn't have enough guests and I felt it would look empty. Tendenza is soo amazing tho!  Very modern, trendy yet still intimate.
  • We booked our wedding at Tendenza for 12/29/12, and we have had a great experience with them so far. We looked at many different venues: Trust, Peche at Sherman Mills, Front and Palmer, XIX, the Horticultural Center, Camden Aquarium, the Waterworks, the Loews Hotel, and the Please Touch Museum!!

NONE of the other venues we saw offered as good a deal as Tendenza. For the money, you will not find a cheaper venue that is as beautiful, and includes so much, we think. For the $150 per person/160 guest minimum (for a Saturday, that is) that we will be paying, we think we are going to have an awesome party for the money.

If there are any other late December Tendenza brides reading this, please feel free to contact me if you might be interested in exchanging ideas and possibly even materials (?) for decor!

Congrats, fellow engaged gals! It's fun, isn't it???
  • For everyone who booked Tendenza, where are you having your guests stay? Most of you are getting married well before me and even though I have plenty of time I want to figure out the hotel/ block of rooms sooner than later.
  • We put a hold on Tendenza!! Love the space. Was a little concerned with the dance floor at first but I think with the amount of guests we are expecting it should be ok.

I've been looking into a few hotels already. For myself, fiance and wedding party I've looked into Loews, Omni and Rittenhouse. For guests, I'll give a few options including the one we choose and maybe penns view or the hyatt. Have you found any yet?
  • We booked Nov 2012 at Tendenza.  Our guest list is around 200 and I do not want to go more then that, even though they say 240 is the comfrotable max.  Trust is great,  but the headache of the a la carte decisions was too much for me.  And those prices add up very quickly.  At Tendenza you get everything included without any surprise charges.  I know from experience (sister's wedding at Cescaphe and aunt's at Atrium) that you will be very well taken care of and everything will be handled at Tendenza.

    Good Luck!
  • My main concern about the hotels is that I want to provide transportation from the hotel to Tendenza and back at the end of the night for those who want to stay in the city and don't want to worry about driving.  I love the idea of giving guests a choice of where to stay, but at the same time, I don't want to provide a taxi service to three different hotels if that makes sense.  Right now I'm trying to figure out a rough number of rooms to block so that I can call the hotels.  We both have family who live out of town, and then we need to figure out if our friends would want to stay. I know that we have to pay the parking fee because some people will plan on driving, but I think a majority of our friends will want to stay in the city, and I plan on staying in the city too, I'm not going home.

I contacted the Omni hotel, but I need to give them more information before they can give a price, aka I need to figure out the number.  I'm also thinking about the Loews and the Hyatt and really any hotels that have a bar in them or are nearby because I think people want to go out after the reception, at least they've mentioned it to me.
  • We're getting married at Tendenza in October. We also have both of our families from out of town (probably about 75 households that could potentially need hotel rooms). We set up room blocks at the Loews (that's where we are staying) and the Downtown Marriot and the Courtyard Marriot. They are all within a block or two of each other. We are going to provide transportation (using Cescaphe Trolley) and just have them make one stop, probably at the intersection of 12th and Market. We were able to block 75 rooms across the 3 hotels without having to put any money down or guaranteeing any certain amount. I would definitely look into contacting those three.
  • Im at the tendenza on 12/28/12 and I have my guests staying the le meridien on arch street which is a great hotel! We also rented the trolley from cesaphe to take guest to and from the reception which is very reasonablily priced!!
