Need of a DJ for a June 2013 wedding

Hi everyone!  I am getting married next June in Newport and I am looking for an affordable and good DJ.  I have gotten some responses back from some, but I figure it would be good to have some extra advice from other brides.

    What's your date? And what do you consider affordable? I know a few dj's but my date is June 15th so I don't know if they're available.

    We just changed our date from the 22nd to the 29th.  We just cancelled a meeting we had set up with Luke Renchen (because of the date change), so I know he's available for the 22nd.  I'm not sure of his prices, but he was recommended to us by several other vendors (including other DJs who weren't available).

    Are you looking for just a DJ or someone to do lights and other stuff? Luke is great I've known him since I was 18. Another good DJ is Arpeggio Entertainment but like Luke can be a little pricy. I was asking your date because two of my good friends DJ and they are so much fun and play great music but they will be attending my wedding on the 15th so I didn't want to give you their name if they weren't going to be available. Try emailing or calling them they aren't as mainstream so they aren't as expensive since it's really a second job for both of them. The phone # is (401)300-9165 or email darren@artiniuminc.com. Their names are Darren and Damien, if they weren't guests at my weding they would definitely be my DJ.

    You can also try the one I'm actually using which is Frank Baptista but I'm pretty sure he's booked all of June.

    I'm using Zach Dauphinais. He has great reviews on the CT boards. I know he has a bunch of weddings scheduled for next year and a few in June so I'm not sure if he's available, but he would definitely fit your budget!

    We are using Premier Entertainment.  His prices are very reasonable and I have read good reviews about him so we booked him for our wedding next October.  I found him on the knot when I was looking up DJs in CT.  I think he is in Charlestown RI.  His name is Bryan Bailey and his email address is bryan@prmdj.com.  You can check out his website as well, it is www.prmdj.com.

    I'm new to all this planning, so I was wondering what is the going rate for a DJ?  And how far in advance should one try to book them?  My wedding is July 2013 in Newport.
