  It seems that since an envelope has creases and folds, it would not qualify for the postcard stamp.

  Yup.  Only "real" postcards can use the $0.28 stamp.

  Yup, anything in an envelope, no matter the weight, has to have atleast the $.44 or more. We asked about that for our RSVP cards because they have teeny tiny envelopes that we can put them in but we have to pay $.44 each instead of just using the paper without the envelope, which is only $.28. HTH!

  Wouldn't it be nice if smaller envelopes required less postage? Oh, well! As long as you're using a standard envelope (not square), it should be the same.
