Help! How do I ask them to be in my wedding?

I am planning to send blank cards to my family who I am asking to stand up in our wedding.  I was hoping to find some nice sentiments to put in there about how important they are to me and how I want them to be by my side on such a big day, etc.  Unfortunately, I'm having writers block.  Do any of you have a recommendation for a website or something similar that would have good ideas to get me started?  I'm just not quite sure how to phrase it.

Ditto Bimbi, I just took each of them out to dinner seperately and asked them. I was looking at a girl's bio on the DIY board the other day and thought she had kind of a cute poem for her card. http://rguitart.weebly.com/all-things-paper.html If you scroll down to the bottom it's posted under Maid of Honor Card. I wrote funny personalized poems to each- of memories we shared, and then I got a little sappy at the end before asking them in rhyme to be in the wedding party!

I made cards saying  "will you be my bridesmaid?".  I gave them the card after taking them out to dinner.  Inside I put a picture of us together and a little note saying what they mean to me and how it would be so special if they would stand up with me on my special day!   For the young ones (flower girls and ring bearers) I did the same but included some stickers and a little gift.

I've already asked each of my girls, but that was two years ago and since the wedding is getting closer, I was planning on doing something similar to you... I found a cute sentiment online that goes,

It is hard for me to believe
that in just a little while
_____ and I will be walking down the aisle.
    And nothing would give
    me more joy and pride
    than to have you
    right there by my side.
    Will you be my Bridesmaid?

    I found that on weddingstand.com

    Hope that helps!!

I just wrote a heartfelt note about how much they meant to me, some fun memories, then asked "Will you be my bridesmaid?" at the end, along with some chocolates.  I gave them to each attendant in person over lunch/dinner/etc.

My friends and BMs are used to my "corny" hand made cards.  (I think it's fun to be super cheesy sometimes...)  The front of my cards said:

    "Something old,
    Something new,
    Something borrowed..."

    and the inside said
"something you?"  and then I wrote a personalized message to each of them.  I think they all already knew I wanted them in the wedding, since we're really close, but they all still loved the cards. :)  Just have fun with it!

they all pretty much just assumed, so I actually asked them right when I called to tell them we were engaged.  It was an easy choice!

I made personalized cards on Shutterfly. For example, one of them was a pic of one of the groomsman at his bachelor party and he was writing on one of his passed out friend's face....then when you opened it up it said "I couldn't think of a better reason to have you as one of my groomsman." we left them on each person's door step with a  bottle of their favorite drink (wine, Jameson, etc.) They all LOVED it!

I have yet to ask my bridesmaids, but I have made the cards.... I found pictures of ugly bridesmaid dresses and put the photos on blank cards.  On the inside I am going to write " I promise I wont make you wear something this ugly!  Will you be my bridesmaid?"   I think my ladies will think its pretty funny and pretty "me"  I tend to be goofy.

As far as writing something sincere- just let it come naturally and from your heart!  good luck!
