Mom rant :(

So guess what I was told this morning..."you are ruining Christmas because all you ever talk about is the wedding. I don't even want to think about it until next year. I know you're excited about it, but focus on Christmas."

Thanks mom, I talk to you about the wedding maybe once a week. UGH.

Re: Mom rant :(

  • Your probably more excited about your wedding than Christmas so it's normal to talk about it. Did someone mention it to her and that's why she said that?

  • Some people lack tact, I tell you!
Limit your wedding talk with her so that she'll drop the attitude (I understand, I hardly talk wedding with my mother AT ALL now thanks to her attitude.... I keep thinking, isn't your mother the one that's  supposed to be all excited about talking about it with you?)
And remember, we all love ya, and love to hear about your wedding... all the time!
Sorry you had to deal with that :(
  • Like Britt said, AW yourself here.  We loved to hear even when your mom doesn't.

  • I'm sorry girl!! Sometimes mothers just really grind my gears!

  • Aww thanks you guys! :) making me smile over here... Yea Britt I know what you mean. I guess it's partly my fault because she always has something negative to say about the wedding or anything related to it (just last week a friend got engaged to a military guy and she goes bc my dad was in the military, "oh steph, you should have married someone in the military.") but I keep mentioning things in hopes she'll get excited and feel included, butttt I'm over it. I really, really don't even mention it to her that much I promise haha. You guys are the bestest! :) how are all your holiday plans coming? I'm sorry I've been MIA doing wedding planning, getting registered for school classes, and work. Oh btw I decided not to take the full time yoga job from a little ways back :( broke my heart but had to make the adult decision so money wouldn't be too tight.

  • Stop including her.  Eventually she'll probably start asking and you can just reply "well I thought you were sick of wedding talk so I've been sharing my excitement with friends instead".  LOL

She'll realize she's being a brat.  I'd also say, "Well mom, last I checked Christmas happens every year.  I only plan on getting married once"

    Hahaha, that's awesome!
  • I sometimes find myself talking to my FMIL more about the wedding than my mom. She is just a lot more "wedding happy" than my mother. Not to say my mom is not helpful / excited ... but some people just get way more into it. Do you have another friend / family member that you can talk wedding with ?

  • Ouch! I'm sorry she said that to you.  I personally would start talking about it even more.  But, that's just me. :)
