I will be getting them done by a graphic designer that's a friend of the family, Liz Galligan.  She's is really creative and does an awesome job combining different ideas that you have.  PM me if you want her info!

I got my invites at The Papery in Summit and save-the-dates at The Papery in Denville.  They were great to work with and I am so happy with the results!

As for timing, it depends on the type of invitations. Letterpress, for instance, takes a lot longer than regular printing (not sure of the name for standard printing). Both of mine were letterpress & they took almost 3 weeks from the time the final proof was submitted.  Invites should be sent out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding.  Good luck!

I went to Papyrus in Westfield. (John was very nice to work with) They are currently offering a 20% off coupon for the month of July. Mine are going to take about 3 weeks to come in. I am cutting it very close to having them out 6 weeks prior to my wedding. I did do a save the date - so I am not panicking too much about the 6 week time frame.

We started looking about 7 months before the wedding.  We went to Kate's Paperie and Papyrus and didn't see anything in the letterpress books that really fit what we thought we would want, so we looked at custom letterpress designers.  Most of them wanted to be booked about 6 months before the wedding (although the design process would start later on).

We ended up working with Ephemera Press (www.ephemera-press.com).  She's located in Seattle, but was really easy to work with despite the distance -- we would send PDFs back and forth and talk on the phone.  (And to be honest with my work schedule that was easier than having to go somewhere in person, because I could send comments whenever I had free time).  She only does letterpress, but if you like letterpress I highly recommend her -- great work, really nice to work with, and reasonable (by letterpress standards -- letterpress is not reasonably priced compared to a lot of other invitation styles because it is complicated and labor-intensive).

I also used einvite through Costco.  We ddn't want to spend a ton on invites and wanted something pretty but traditional.  It worked out great.  I ordered them last Monday and had them on Friday.

I'm going to be ordering mine from Wedding Paper Divas. I got my save the date cards from there and absolutely loved them. I figured I would order my invites from there.

We also used www.weddingpaperdivas.com and could not be more pleased!
They came in about 4 days after ordering them.
I mailed them 2 months before the RSVP date, so about 10/11 weeks before the wedding date.

I'm using Jenn C Designs and she has been fantastic to work with so far.  I'm doing a mounted invitation in a pocket fold using metallic paper.  Jenn will work with your budget; you should definitely contact her.  It takes a couple weeks for the paper to come in and then she needs some time to print everything but all together I'd give yourself at least 2 months before you actually plan on mailing them out.

I am using Creatively Engaged in Bernardsville.
They are doing everything from my invitations to my favors to my programs.

The girl who owns it is super nice. She literally bent over backwards for me. I practically want to make her a bridesmaid. Haha.

We used Cherish the Moment in Morristown. They were so helpful and patient with u...we were back and forth about 5 times. They also printed up an insert for us and did the addresses on the envelopes. We didn't have to wait long at all!
