That BF has asked/discussed with my parents that he wants to propose. I also found out he has been looking at rings. We just had our 6 year anniversary this week and we are going camping this weekend together to celebrate. I am trying to hard not to think he might propose this weekend. I don't want to ruin a really wonderful weekend by being disappointed if he doesn't propose this weekend. Any advice on how to just relax and enjoy the weekend without wondering if any second he might do it? Also advice on not being disappointed if he doesn't propose?

Ha Ha, I know I am excited but also nervous. To be honest, he was the tattletaler (not as smooth as he thinks he is I guess).

BTW, I think we are the only ones on right now.

Very exciting! BUT take a breath. I got my hopes up a few times and was very dissapointed when it didn't happen. The first "big trip" that we went on, when I wasn't expecting it, was the day he proposed! Just think about how much fun you're going to have and try not to think about it. If it's on your mind all the time it will be dissapointing if it doesn't happen. If you just try to have fun and enjoy your relationship. And keep us updated;)

I don't really have any advice but it all sounds exciting for you

. I guess just try to keep your mind off it the best you can and focus on the awesome weekend ring or no ring, plus even if it doesn't happen this weekend that doesn't mean it will never happen

How exciting!!! It might be hard but try not to think about it too much. Think about what an aweome time you and BF are going to have and if he proposes, YAYYY! If not, at least you had an awesome trip and hopefully didn't have too many bug bites

My advice is to just live in the moment. There were a few times where I thought FI was going to propose but I just focused on what was happening while we were on our dates and such and didn't even realize he didn't propose until after we got home. It's hard to be too disappointed if you had a great time doing whatever it was that you were doing.

Try to convince yourself it is NOT happening this weekend - that it's too early, maybe the ring is being custom made and it will take awhile, or that he'll want to make the proposal it's own event and just enjoy the anniversary trip first.

If you convince yourself it is not going to happen, then whenever it does you'll be surprised (or at least not waiting on pins and needles and getting diappointed).

Either way, that's incredibly exciting, and I can't wait until we DO have good news!

I don't blame you for being excited! I was in a similar boat and didn't want to set myself up for disappointment in case it didn't happen and luckily for me it happened before so I didn't have to spend my whole tripping thinking it could be any minute. LOL but I would say allow yourself some excitement if nothing else at the fact that you know it's on the horizon. and if it doesn't happen on your trip then take comfort in knowing he has something else in mind. maybe something better!
