We are having a destination wedding in April, where invitations are limited. To include some of my parent's friends, my mom has planned a reception where they live (my hometown), however it's four months after our wedding (venue's first availability). Here's my question: a couple of her friends want to throw a shower -- inviting those included in the hometown reception -- would it be better to wait until after the actual ceremony for the shower, so that it's closer to the event they will be attending? Is it an issue that we are actually inviting a handful of hometown people to the wedding?
Before anyone says anything - we would send 'save the dates' for the hometown reception before the shower.
