NYE Venue

Good Morning All!
We're newly engaged, and this is my first post....I'm hoping you girls can help.
We'd like to do a New Year's Eve wedding this year, and I'm pretty lost as to where we should start looking for a venue. Our budget is a little tight, and we need to pay for two ceremonies (a Christian one, as well as a Hindu one for his family). Does anyone have any suggestions for nice, inexpensive places in CT?

Can you give us a little more detail to help us with giving suggestions?

    How many guests?
Where you are located in CT, ie Eastern by Mystic, Central by Hartford, Southern by Greenwich?
What site qualities are you looking for?

Congrats on your engagement I like the idea of  NYE wedding sounds like fun! It might be tough finding a venue that isn't booked yet. Do you have an area in mind?

Try the Woodwinds in Branford, we are getting married there next summer and December is their off season so you can save up to 15% I believe.  They also have a beautiful room that has a fireplace in it and the place is decorated AWESOME during the Xmas season.

Sorry I took so long to get back here...it's blocked at work Cry

But thanks for the congrats!! :) We're a little nervous about everyone being booked already, that's why we're trying to figure it out quickly, before they all are!

Linda, I'm kind of located in Northwest/Central CT. Right on the line of Litchfield County and Hartford County. I'm ok with driving for it though somewhere in CT. It's not like this state is HUGE lol. I'm thinking around 200 guests. And I was thinking the most logical was somewhere like a hotel, so we can do all three parts in one location. Since we're doing the Hindu ceremony, Christian, and then a reception. Just seems easier to do it in one place, but if someone else has other suggestions, feel free to let me know!

Thanks for the idea Abeja! We'll look into it :)

Congrats- love the NYE wedding idea!!
I agree that a hotel would probably be best- especially since it's NYE.  The less people have to drive (or be on the road with people who shouldn't be driving), the better.
I'm not too familiar with that area but I'll give it more thought because I feel like I just heard about someone talking about having a NYE wedding around there a few years ago.

Congrats on your engagement. What's your price range? Inexpensive is a very subjective term. This is a great website I used while planning: http://www.weddingreports.com/

We are getting Married at Crystal peak in Winchester and while it isn't a hotel John and Jennifer have been amazing to work with!! I would check it out.. They are super budget friendly as well.. I think we are paying $70 a person with tax and grat.. For open bar and tons of food.. Other suggestions that come to mind for the area are Avon old farms hotel.. They can do the whole thing there or you can have the wedding across the street at the Inn and stay at the hotel but you will pay quite a bit more.. Farmington mariott.. But they usually host a nYE celebration so I'm not sure how much attention your wedding woud get.. Good luck! Hope this helps!

I wanted to get back to you all, and say thanks for your input. After consideration, my fiance and I decided that rushing for the NYE date is going to be too much for us. Plus we're pretty concerned with dealing with the weather then, up here. Soooo we pushed it back to next July. But thank you ALL for your responses and willingness to help!!! I'm glad to know that I have this huge resource of people here to help out with ideas and suggestions!
