Guest List Woes

Hi all! 22 days til the big day and I'm getting excited but its kinda stressful...

does anyone have any advice about how many people to actually tell our venue is coming? We had157 RSVP but someone called last night to say that they weren't going to be able to make it, so that puts us down to 156. I'm scared that because we are a "destination wedding" (no one lives in this area and they have to commute at least an hour to come) and gas prices are sky rocketing, people are going to bail last minute.

My venue has already told me that they can accomodate an extra 10 people, what do you guys think?

I'd say "150 people" if they say they can accomodate/allow extra 10 people.

    I think 150 would be a safe number too...or 155.

I wonder if Prince William and Kate are registered at Target?

I think 150 would be pretty conservative either way -- but only you can determine if less or more will likely show.
I would also take into account those people who may call and say they weren't able to go but can now (and are you able to accommodate them). How many people RSVPed "no"? Also, did everyone RSVP? I would just make sure that you take into consideration those people too. For me, most of my 'no's will be OOT guests; so I will feel pretty sure none of them will change their mind last minute. But people in town could be pretty wishy washy. Also, if not everyone RSVPed they may plan on coming and you don't know about them. (Which is probably why your caterer allows an extra 10 people.)

They say to plan for 5% that RSVP "yes" to no-show for various reasons (sick, kids sick, babysitter bails, etc).  In your case, that would be 148 total that you should plan for?

That is assuming that you have all of your responses....

tell them the exact number you have at the time.
i'm sure they "can accomodate" an extra 10 people, but i'd rather have them taken care of.
