Wedding Party

Really....? REALLY....?????

My MOH recently informed me that she got a big 'ol tattoo of a black widow and spiderweb ON HER NECK!!!!! There is no covering that thing... How good do tattoo cover kits look in photos?

What kind of a person only values their friends for physical appearance? I'm honestly disgusted. OP, you should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking this, much less saying it!

  • Photoshop. Problem solved.
  • The OP never responded to the multiple suggestions that the BM just have her hair down. They must be required to have it up.

Seriously, it's not worth stressing over. Let the BMs wear their hair how they want, and have hers down if it bothers you that much. No one is going to be watching your BMs for more than a few mins, anyway. And as the PP suggested, photoshop is a beautiful thing. Any photographer worth the money should be able to figure something out if you absolutely want it taken out of a picture.

[QUOTE]Ok you can't her what to do with her body but i'd be upset too. I'm acronophobic so my friends wouldn't do something like that too me. Just ask her if she would consider using the cover up if it really bothers you. If she doesn't want too than let it go. Place her in the back row for pictures or tell her to wear her hair down.

Are you seriously saying that because you have an irrational fear of spiders (I am assuming you meant "arachnophobic) your friends wouldn't tattoo their own bodies with a spider? And if they did, they'd be doing something "to you"?

Your suggestion to put her in the back row is insulting.
  • Ooh Ooh! You should totally showcase the $hi!t out of it. Why? Because it would be "unique!" I bet no one else has black widow weddings!

[QUOTE]I'm not anti tattoo, not at all, if it were a cute butterfly or a star or something I'd be totally ok with it, but it looks like something you get in prison with a guitar string and pen ink...

So THAT's how they do it in prison! I had no idea but always kind of wondered.

    I feel strangely enlightened now.

  • How do they get guitar strings in prison?

I have a student who has his gf's name prison tattooed on his wrist, the top part. Sooo stupid!

  • Why is it your friend's fault that your grandma has a stick up her ass?

Asking her to cover it up is offensive.
  • First of all, I'm assuming it's either on the side or front of her neck.
I completely understand where you are coming from! I'm not sure why so many people are so quick to judge you for this:( Everyone has something in the planning process that is a huge deal to them even if it seems like it's not a big deal to anyone else. I would be irritated if my BM did this. Unfortunately, a lot of the posts so far are right on one aspect...you can't really tell her what to do unless you want to risk not having her stand up for you the day of. I don't think it would be too outlandish of you to ask her to use some concealer to cover it for the wedding day. Someone mentioned in an earlier post Kat Von D's tattoo concealer at Sephora. I would definitely try something like that. If it is on the back of her neck (assuming it's small) it shouldn't really be a problem & most likely no one will notice it. Good luck!

This is actually a horrible idea if you the bride bring it up. If she says, "Do you want me to cover my tattoo?" Your only response should be, "Only if YOU feel more comfortable doing so."

If your grandmother didn't like how your groom looked, would you tell him to change his appearance? God I hope your answer is no.

You're not even marrying her. She's doing you the honor of being there for you on the big day. You don't get to control her body. At all.

You may not be able to control how you feel about her body art, but as a grown adult, you're in full control of YOUR behavior and how you handle the situation. She's a grown adult and if you treat her as anything less, it's not appropriate at all.
  • I wouldn't worry too much about it if i were you. My sister, who is my MOH, has a pretty big tattoo that will most likely be visible at the wedding, but i don't think anyone's really gonna focus on it. Besides, I think everyone there is going to be paying more attention to you anyway. Don't stress too much about it. Your wedding will still be great (:

[QUOTE]I understand where you are coming from. I do have tattoos myself and am covering one during the week of my wedding as I do not want it to be offensive to anyone in either of our families. At a wedding that I went to recently, one of the bridesmaids had a huge tattoo on her shoulder and my family made all kinds of comments about that she should have covered it up. So even though it might not be offensive or your body, there is still the issue of representing you as one of your friends while she is standing next to you in front of both of your families. People judge whether they say so or not and they may or may not look at it as a direct reflection of you. I think it would be appropriate to ask her to cover it, but you may want to front the cost of the cover-up.

so you have a judgemental family, that means that EVERYONE should do things that conform to your family's standards? she is who she is, and hopefully that's what counts, although apparently not in your world.
