Worried about the honeymoon (swimsuit)

Our wedding is in October and we are going on a cruise for our honeymoon!

I'm so excited but I'm worried about how I'll look on the honeymoon.  My FI thinks I'm beautiful but we constantly struggle with dealing with the insecurities I have in myself because I don't think I am.

I hate wearing a bathing suit around him cause I just feel awkward and uncomfortable with myself.  I would like to be able to feel sexy on our honeymoon and find something I can feel confident in.

Do you know of any good places to buy plus size swimsuits?

Re: Worried about the honeymoon (swimsuit)

  • I've always had luck getting swim suits at Torrid.  They aren't excatly shape controlling, but they are stylish.  I've had the same suit from them going on 3 years and it still fits great, the material hasn't streched or give like some other suits over time.

I saw their new styles last weekend and they have some pretty cute styles out.
  • The best advice I can give you is to TRUST your fiance. He's giving you his word and even his hand in marriage..... he LOVES you for you and he would be sad if you weren't able to enjoy yourself on your lovely honeymoon because you were uncomfortable.

I've really liked the suits I've gotten from Lane Bryant. They fit well and aren't cut in all the wrong places... plus, there are a lot of options. There are also other sites like womanwithin.com and a whole line of suits called Miracle Suits... LB sells a lot of these, I think.. http://www.miraclesuit.com

Anyway, I still have my own insecurities but it's helped me to realize that my FI is the one looking at me and if he says he loves me (ALL of me) then I do believe him. He's seen me at my best and at all my worsts, so if he's still by my side I know it's for a reason. I'd be doing him an injustice if I doubted him or argued with his opinions.

We're going on a cruise for our honeymoon and if there's one thing I'm not worried about, it's how comfortable I'll be around my new husband. If all else fails and you'd be more comfortable in a tshirt with a suit underneath and board shorts, then GO for it! Just be comfortable so you can relax, have fun, and enjoy your honeymoon =)

  • Lands' End has some nice ones; they're flattering and they come in cute designs just like smaller sizes. I personally like them a lot.

This, so, so much. Embrace yourself and try to see what your fiance sees -- you are beautiful.

I agree with Everyone about Lane Bryant, I don't have one but my Best friend does and it looks amazing on her and is super swimming. What I liked about it is that I had a build in "bra" that actually had an underwire rather that that silly padding stuff that doesn't help.  She says its super comfy. Shockingly I have also found that Super Target has some great plus sized swimsuits that are really cute, both separates and a one piece. My current one is from there are it is very comfy and fits well with a little skirt to hide my upper thighs that isn't too long that it feels weird to swim in.

I also love what ekmarion said, I have been slowly learning that with my own BF. Trust your man :) plus confidence is sexy. While I may not be confident in how Iook always, I can be confident that my guy likes it :)

    Have a blast on your honeymoon! You will look lovely <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

I actually got a couple cute tankinis from swimsuitsforall.com just this past summer.   I love tankinis and I was able to find boyshort style bottoms (they also had skirt cuts and other options) which make me feel more covered.  I felt like the prices were pretty reasonable too.

ETA: and seriously ditto what the other girls said.  Your FI loves you just the way you are - and everyone else who sees you will be a stranger you'll never see again - so get something that you feel comfortable in and have fun!
