What's your Ceremony start time?

So through my local board and my MIL I'm learning about this starting on the half hour so the minute hand is going up as you begin your marriage and that's good luck or something. FI and I are not superstitious and don't really care but I'm wondering am I the only one with an "o'clock" wedding? I asked my mom and she says she's never been to a wedding that started on the hour.

hmmm i've never heard that lol And actually i've never attended a wedding that started on the half hour.....so maybe it depends on the area...

Mine is set to start at 4:15.

Our time is 5:00pm...i chose it because it wasnt too early where I would be running around with my head cut off...our reception will start at 6:00pm and will end around 10:45pm..we need to clean up and be out by midnight..didnt know about the o'clock thing..but.i dont believe in luck (i believe in gods blessings) so our time will remain..

MrsBoss2012, my Nana told me the same thing because I had a start time of 1:45p. So, I'm changing my start time to 1:15 so we will be announced man & wife as the hands of the clock are going up.

My ceremony starts at 3pm. My wedding planner told us initially to pick a start time that would work with an end time that I usually got to bed. On a good day, I'm in the bed around 8:30pm and ususally sleep by 9pm. She said it would be a long day and that we will be tired. So, we chose 3pm start time, and 4:30 reception start time, with and end time of 9pm. My mom's hosting an after party but FI & I won't be attending. Although, I have heard of this superstition (only on the knot), I don't believe in luck, I believe in Jesus!

Do you and your guests have to clean up, or is the hall doing it?

Our wedding is starting at 4pm but we have live music for 30 minutes and we are actually walking at 4:30pm. I know how my people are, we had to give a 30 minute window.

Our Ceremony starts at 3:30 pm. I've never heard of that saying before,we just chose a time that we knew would be okay with our planned day as well as the church's schedule.

Our ceremony starts at 6:00pm sharp. My mother is saying I need to tell people that it starts at 4:30 so they will be there by 6pm. LOL Our African family is too much when it comes to time. All though I will say when I had my "Knocking on the Door" Ceremony everybody was SURPRISINGLY on time. Even my godfather who is always late for everything. We had a Christmas party that started at 6 and he showed up at 1am..SMH

I have warned my parents that I will be walking down the aisle at 6pm SHARP, even if there are two people in the room. We are on a super strict schedule and I would like to keep everything flowing. We shall see how that goes. LOL

I have never heard of that either. But our ceremony starts at 6:30pm, only because that is the time offered by our venue for evening events.

Ours is at 6pm. I'd heard the supersition but that's not why I chose it. Something about evening events strikes me as "elegant." I've also been described as doing things that are "uppity." Our wedding time was one of those things... :-/ *smh*

5pm - That's just what worked with the church schedule. We wanted out of town/state ppl to have enough time to drive here the day of, but we didn't want dinner to be super late either. There's a lot of kids coming.

Well glad to know I'm not in the dark. I wasn't so much worried about the luck part (Jesus will preside over my marriage as well) LOL. But I didn't know if it was some tradition just like having your Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue, Jumping Broom, etc. Well I got my answer keeping it at 5p!

Oh and my side of the family is the WORST at being on time. My mother even made the comment it's tradition for weddings NOT to start on time. I said look here honey (I mean mommy), mine will start on time so tell ya friends! It's also on our wedding website.

I haven't heard of this either but ours starts ay 3pm. Mainly because the hotel already had certain time slots set and that's the latest one in the day that was still available.

No..IM not cleaning, but in order for us to get our $400.00 deposit back..we need everything clean and everyone out (cater, dj, guest..everyone)..and guest will not be cleaning..we dont hv room for overtime for the reception employees..and if we lose our deposit we wouldve paid $860.00..just for the building..nope...everyone out!! Lol (take a piece of cake but ya gotta go)
