FYI: Name changing and SS Office

Just thought I'd let you girls know that you can actually apply to change your name on your SS card by mail, instead of going down to the office in person. You just mail your documents and the form to the local office instead of a national office. They mail all of your documents back to you with a letter telling you that they have everything they need and that you'll get your new card in about two weeks. Hope that helps someone else out.

uhh yes, very helpful! I'm kinda of putting it off a bit. I soooo don't look like a Rivera. Everyone will try to talk to me in spanish!

LOL! I had a really hard time with changing my name. I loved my maiden name (Moody is soooo much fun for a teacher, lol) and I'm called by my last name more than my first so it was kind of a big deal to me. I just thought it was dumb to have three last names in one household (DD has her dad's last name... grr) so I figured I'd better change it.

I never thought it would be a big deal for me, but now that I am actually getting it changed, I keep putting it off. It's a little bit sad to me. I don't know why... lol

I feel the same way...i mean i've had my last name for 26 years! Now i gotta give it up! I tried saying Mrs. Benjamin a few times last week and it just didnt seem as cool as my last name. I'll get over it soon... i hope!

Staci, i was wondering what was taking you SO long to change your name! i figured maybe you weren't going to change it at all or something!
