BridetoBe

Re: BridetoBe

  • I have been looking for a shower update too! Hope you had a wonderful time and are feeling better!!
  • Aww, thank you for asking!!!

It was amazing, despite the fact that I was still pretty sick. Everyone was so incredibly generous and I was astonished that so many people drove from so far to come! We had probably 40ish people there -- family and friends, from all over NY, NJ, PA, CT, and OH. I am so lucky and spoiled. :) My MOH went above and beyond - I am truly in awe. Everything was pink (my favorite color!) and there was so much food and the favors were adorable and she didn't make me play games (she had them planned but I didn't feel well, so we just stuck with mingling and eating and opening presents!).

Everyone took a ton of pictures but I kind of wish I wasn't in any of them because I really looked sick. The pneumonia made me look so yucky! I even went to Frederic Fekkai on 5th to get my hair done that morning, but after sleeping the whole way there in the car, it completely out and my makeup wasn't even done. :( Oh well! It was about the people there, not how I look - I know, I know.

I will PIP once my mom sends me some photos. :)

  • Aww...I am sorry you were so sick.  I hope you are feeling better by this weekend, isnt it your Vegas trip? ...rest up!!  Glad you had a wonderful day though!Laughing

  • It is! You have a great memory :) I am feeling probably 75% right now so I'm hoping that by Weds, when I leave for San Diego, I'm feeling better, but if not, I better be better by Friday when we drive to Vegas!

We still need to plan our Manhattan meet up!

  • Well...doesnt alcohol act as a germ killer? I am sure you will be just fine by the weekend! :)

Yes, we definitely have to meet for a drink, that would be really fun.  I work on 18th and 5th and live in Gramercy Park!  Let me know when you are free!   PS, I am a paralegal, so I know your pain when dealing with partners...

  • take some airbonne! i hear its great for plane rides!!  I am glad you still had a good time!! feel better!!!
  • yay! Glad to hear your shower was so much fun! Sorry you weren't feeling 100% though, that's always the worst when all eyes are on you. What was your fav gift? Can't wait to see pics! Excited you will be in my neck of the woods this week! FI surprised me on Fri night and booked a room for us downtown for the night. We went out for a nice dinner and went out dancing at Onyx in the gaslamp district. So much fun down there! It's supposed to be sunny this week. In the mid 70's :-)

lvissers - I almost started a new thread to ask you for some recommendations while in SD! Any "must see" places??? We're only going to have Thursday, basically (well, and Weds night) but if there's anything you can suggest, I'd love to hear it! My friend has only lived there for about 6 months so I think she's still getting used to it :)

Favorite gift . . . haha I'm not sure! My mom got me the entire Calphalon 10-piece cooking pots/pans set which was absolutely ridiculous on her part. My FMIL got us the 5-quart KitchenAid Stand Mixer. My mom also wrote out all of my favorite recipes and put them into a cute personalized box for me. I've always wanted all of her recipes and I'm so glad she gave me that!

  • How sweet of your mom and your FMIL for going all out for your shower gifts! i was blwon away by people's generosity as well! :-)

Do you know what part of SD you are staying in? I would def. go to the gaslamp district in downtown SD. They have so many cute restaurants, bars and clubs down there and great atmosphere. If you're wanting a fun club, I would reccomend Onyx, Stingaree and Fluxx. They also have fun smaller casual bars like the Piano Bar down there and Double Deuce that has a mechanical bull if you're not wanting to get all dressed up and want something more casual. I prefer the crowd of people in Gaslamp over Pacfic beach area as most people I feel are upper 20's-30's, rather than 21 years olds.  Pacific Beach is a fun are to go out in for casual beach bars along the strand. My fav is Shore Club. Lots of college kids live in this area and bars are packed most nights of the week down there. So keep that in mind, youre going to be in a packed loud and noisy bar with obnoxious college kids, lol. PetCo park where the Padres play is a fun thing to do too if they are in town. It's a newer stadium right in the middle of downtown. Let me know if you want anymore ideas!

  • lvissers - Great suggestions! Thank you so much. Yeah, I'd love to avoid the college crowd as much as possible so I will stick with Gaslamp :)

  • Oh yaya for shower!  I am so glad everything turned out so nice despite you still feeling like crap!  I know it was beautiful in NJ this weekend so you and your guest lucked out with awesome weather!
  • Aww I'm so happy to hear it went well (besides the pneumonia), I know you were worried about people traveling to be there but it sounds like your friends and family pulled through! Can't wait to see pics :)

  • Glad it went well! I'm sure you looked fine so don't even worry about that!

Those gifts sound amazing. Now you should have pretty much all of the tools you need to make all of those recipes :)

Sounds like it was great!!! I'm glad you're feeling better now though. It's hard being around a lot of people while sick.
