is outdoors in september too hot?

We are trying to plan our wedding for Sept 10, 2011 and really like the idea of an outdoors reception. the ceremony and cocktail hour would be inside. We would of course erect a large tent and would also give out personal fans for our wedding favor. We just dont know if it would still be too hot?

any thoughts regarding humidity or ideas to help would be great?

That's my date too, or the one that we've currently decided on!  I'm having the same problem, my wedding is in a chapel that has no heat or air (built in the 1800's).

I feel like September is nice though, still warm but not hot like July!  I just looked up the average temps for Winston Salem for September and it looks like average high is 82 and low is 59.  If you have it later in the end, rather than at noon, it should be more on the lower end of the high too!

Our wedding is on Sept 25th of this year, the ceremony will be outside and the reception will be indoors and outdoors. I don't think it will be too hot in September, especially if you have the wedding later in the day.

With NC you never can predict the weather. Who would have thought that it would reach 90 in the beginning of April? Plan your wedding for the day you want. It will all work out great :)

our ceremony is at 1, as that is the latest our church does. So we would be outside during the hottest part of the day.

I guess i just need to decide whether i want to deal with the stress of not being able to control the weather.

Will you have a backup for indoors, for if it rains?  You could then use it as a backup if you felt it was too hot the day of.

Don't worry about the weather.  It is something you can't control and is unexpected. "Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair..."

But I think you'll be fine in September.

maybe you can check the farmers almanac if you are worried about the heat to see what temps have been in the past....rain you can't control. we are getting married outside and if it rains.....we are still getting married outside :)

I am having my wedding on sept 19th of this year.  The ceremony is at 3:30 on the beach and the reception is inside.  We are having a casual hawaiian style wedding.  So I am not worried about the heat bc we'll all be dressed for it.  I think you will be fine.

I don't think it will be too hot...since it's not until next year, you can better judge it when the date rolls around this year to kinda get an idea.  That's what I did last year!  GL!

Unfortunately it is next to impossible to predict. I freaked out during our 12 month engagement about whether we were making the right decision doing an outdoor wedding, because I knew I'd be beside myself if the weather sucked. I started looking into churches, etc etc. The weather channel.com has a wedding planner tool that shows you the weather for the past 3 years on your date - for you, the past 3 September 10ths (Im using Charlotte as the location) have been 86 degrees with AM light rain (2009), 77 degrees with thunderstorms (2008), and 97 degrees "mostly cloudy" (2007). It is literally all over the place. For the date WE picked, the weather had been terrible for the past three October 24th's, so I was super nervous. I decided though, to just take a risk. We would have a tent overhead either way, so I just took a chance. Turned out to be 79 and perfectly sunny on our day! Rained like mad in the morning but it cleared up. Have a back-up plan and take the risk, you will kick yourself if you dont have it outside and the weather winds up being beautiful! :)
