Wedding Favors - Personal CD's or wedding cake cookies???? HELP

Hi,

For some reason I have having the hardest time deciding on wedding favors. I saw this website that make wedding CD's for you ... they are really nice!! They do the covers and everything. What are your thoughts on wedding cd's as favors? Are cds tacky?? Or should I do Wedding Cake Cookies? Please help!!

Thanks!

I had a friend that went to a wedding that gave CDs and she said the songs were all terrible and cheesy.  My suggestion would be to make sure you pick good classic songs, rather than inside joke/current favorites.

We did personalized CD's and they were a hit!
Music is really important to my now husband (he was also in a rock band for several years) and everyone knew that about him so the CD's were very appropriate.
We made sure (as PP noted) to include agreeable love songs (they were mostly indie bands) so no Snoop Dogg, even though I really wanted to include one on there!

I'd say cookies. The CD thing, while it can be cute and meaningful, from what I understand, is illegal unless you buy each and every song for each CD you make...which can get pricey! Not sure how it works with the website you found though.

Also, while you may like the songs on there, everyone has very unique music tastes, and your guests would rarely listen to it more than once. Besides, CDs and CD players are sorta losing out to iPods and other MP3 players.

I had a TERRIBLE time choosing favors too, and almost gave up and decided to not do anything at all. THEN I found a good DIY idea for coasters made from tiles, paper, and mod podge Here's what they looked like on the tables:

A CD could be cool but you can never go wrong with an edible favor.

I vote for cookies.  Even if the guests don't eat cookies they will take them home to their kids or something.  CDs are nice, but I agree with the other ladies about people's varying music tastes.

Oh and Bimbi284, those favors are fantastic!!  Where did you get the info to make them?  They would go perfectly with my design and colors.

Cookies. Not all your guests have the same taste in music.

Cookies. I probably wouldn't bother listening to another couple's music selections on my own time.

If I had it my way, favors would ALWAYS be edible!  I'm doing bags of Garrett's popcorn :-)

I don't want to sound mean, but no one cares about someone else's choice in music.  That said, you cannot go wrong with food/cookies.

    lucky30 and 70spop, you've got PMs...

we want to give out CDs as part of our programs...we'd like to design the programs like CD booklets and then have the last page have an envelope for the CD.

music is very important to us, too.  we met at a concert and music plays a big part in our daily lives.

the music we will be including will mostly be audience recordings of live concerts, all perfectly legit to copy and give away.  in fact, most of the bands encourage it!
