Davids Bridal-----Dont ever shop there!!!!!!!!

Re: Davids Bridal-----Dont ever shop there!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, it depends on what you want in a dress and a shopping experience.  Obviously, no frills with their prices!  I wanted a very simple dress t8076, I picked it out online, it was my first choice, tried it on, it fit perfectly, and I was done.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Davids Bridal-----Dont ever shop there!!!!!!!! : I don't agree. While a 600 to 1200 dress may be labeled "budget" in the industry, that is in the real world a lot of money for one dress, and that is now the average price range of DB dresses. Also, the "true" price is higher because their alterations are spendy. For all their talk about "sales" the 100-300 range is pretty much gone for anything most people would want to wear for a dress.

I didn't say 600-1220 was peanuts or anything. Since pricing in the industry is relative, you can definitely tell when a dress is made of polyester and plastic.

My dress was made from tin foil and fishing line.

<div>My Galina dress I think is actually of pretty reasonable quality. Decent chiffon, not cheap looking, nice beading (it is the exact same dress as the one on my profile). It is no Melissa Sweet mind you, but not cheaply made. I just had to deal with the usual David's Bridal stuff like tiny dressing rooms and too many people, but when you are spending $600.00 instead of $1600, you kind of expect that.</div><div>
</div><div>I just wish I had not spent ten minutes thinking my dress was lost. I did not get scared until I saw the flash of panic on their faces. I am glad it all worked out!</div>
  • I had a good experience shopping for my dress there-although i would have prefered to buy local since i live in smaller town...but they didnt have what i wanted...my dress is beautiful and the staff for the most part where very nice....however when i went back too help my BM find a dress and wasnt flaked by my mother and i was wearing work clothes i was treated horribly( which in this town is dumb- you never know who is doctors or farmers wife)....in fact we were totally ignored and if it wasnt for a non consultant we would have to be left stranded...another one of my BM had a horrible experience...she was told that dresses would never look good for a girl of her size....

<div>I think it is funny that a store that is basically a wedding dress warehouse would get an attitude about clothes, but yes I saw them do that at the Richfield DB also. The mark of a genuinely classy store is that they treat all people who are sober and do not smell equally, because you never know who is going to come in and spend a lot of money.<div>
</div><div>Funny about your bridesmaid considering they blaze everywhere that they carry sizes 2-26. When I worked in retail, one of the first things they told me (I was maybe a size 6 in those days!) was leave your size prejudices at the door. The salesperson may not like large people, but they have money to spend too. I was told you do not even say a style is "slimming" because that implies there is something wrong with the customer's size.</div><div>
</div><div>Not just rudeness, but bad business, too. </div></div>
  • My dress was from DB as were all three BM dresses. Plus, we went to THREE different locations for the BM dresses due to each BM being in a different state. I had no problem at any of them.

  • There are 3 DB locations in Pittsburgh...I have been to all three and had different experiences at each...two of the three seemed either like they weren't interested in helping me and my BMs or that they were trying to push the sale on me (I'm not buying my dress until next year because I'm not getting married until next summer and I intend to lose weight by then!).  The other store, which was actually the first one I went to, was also the same store I got my BM dress for my cousin's wedding...and they were so nice and attentive with us.  The trick is to go during the week, when most people aren't likely to be there, so that you can get more one-on-one with the staff.

I will probably be checking Alfred Angelo too, just to see...
  • everyone needs to realize that David's Bridal sells there dresses off the rack.  They are "Ready to Wear".  Even when you order a wedding gown it doesn't mean that you will get one made just for you.  It may be one from another store.  When you buy it off the rack, it has not been tried on a million times.  One gets purchased and a few days later a shipment of new replacements comes in.  Brand spankin new ones are put on the racks everyday.  You will not get a discount because you bought it off the rack because they are not floor samples, they are the ones being sold.
Becca, I doubt they lost your dress.  When you put something on Layaway, that exact dress is bagged and put in a seperate room for just Layaways.  they are not out on the floor .  Maybe the original was actually a 14 and they just accidently rang it up as a 16.  Anyway, why didn't you just exchange the 14 and have them order you a 16??
