Tell me about your FI/H/BF

Hey ladies! Not much chatter 'round these parts, so I figured I'd start another topic and see if I can hear from some of you!

Tell me about your FI/H/BF/Cat/Dog/Pajamas...I dont care!!

I'll tell you about my H! He's 6 years older than me and a computer nerd. We met through a mutual friend and we drive each other insane on a regular basis, but it works for us. He has decided he loves tarantulas (eek!) and we have a sweet lab and an evil cat that we love.

We're pretty boring! Now tell me about YOU!

    I'll play!

    FI is active duty Marine Corps and has been stationed 900 miles away for the past 3 years... pretty much the entire length of our relationship. We met in high school, and were friends for years before we started officially dating. Other than our shared love of sarcasm, I sometimes feel like we're complete opposites: he's quiet, I'm pretty loud; he's easygoing, I am, umm...we'll call it ambitious Wink

    But it works for us. He gets out of the Marines in a few months and finally moves home. I'm so excited! And then we'll have about 6 months to get things settled in before we get married!

    The PA (Prince *ss...it's a long story) is 6 years younger than I am. He's a big guy with a huge heart, and we're both working on getting to be smaller people so we can stay together longer (the whole family is getting in on it, which is pretty cool). He works in mental health, and I'm trying to convince him to go back to school for either his nursing degree or his masters in counseling.

    Kinda funny the way we met...while doing an internship for my doc, I met his mom, who said to me right after she met me, "I was always supposed to have a red-headed daughter named Fuzzis. I just didn't know it was going to take you this long to show up. You must come out to the house and meet my sons. I don't care which one, just one of them." And actually...I went out on a couple of dates with his brother before I dated him. (every one is cool with it...started dating the PA 3 years after I dated his brother. PA says that he kept waiting for me to figure out that I'd picked the wrong brother)

    They're a hardcore State family (We got some Dawgs up in here!), but both PA and I graduated from Southern Miss. (SMTTT!) I come from a place where such things aren't that big of a deal so I could care less either way. LOL!

    We've got two cats (Peach and Blackberry) and a dog (Cobbler). Life is pretty good!

    hehe. you sound so much like me and my BF/FI.
    He's 7 years older than i am. quite the 'gamer' in his spare time. he's just joined the army and will be going to basic around february. we plan on getting married when he gets back home.
    we drive each other up the wall. i always tell him that he makes me crazy and his response is "o baby, you were crazy long before i came around" which usually earns him a smack. lol
    i can't be me without him though Smile 
    oh and we've been together for 2 years.

    Oh this is fun! My FI and I met about 2 years before we even considered dating. I was in a relationship with an old guy and he was the boyfriend of my small group leader at church :O I know but it really isn't as bad as it sounds. It's a LONG story that is on our website if anyone cares but I won't bore the rest of you with the details here! He is a pilot for a small airline that flies Delta connection flights, and he is based out of Detroit :( The commute sucks and I HATE when he gets stuck in airports, but it is a small price to pay to get to see him do what he loves to do. He is a major dork as well that is way too into technology! We have a 12 foot screen and projector for a tv! but I have to admit it is kinda cool. I brought a dog into the relationship. My 7 year old Cocker Spaniel, Maggie. She is the best and he loves her even though he tries to act like he doesn't.

    Oh and I went to MC and he went to Delta State :(  but all of his family and most of our friends our State fans! My mother graduated from Southern and most of her family and USM fans so SMTTTT and GO STATE! Just please no one mention the bear that has brought shame to our state.

    LOL! Glad we don't have any Ole Miss fans on here. I don't want to offend anyone, but really they had to expect this when they voted for "The Rebel Bear"

    ANYWAY... this is fun! I want to know about all of you, so lets keep this going!

    My H and I are both from Ohio. We met in college. We lived next door to each other, so we hung out a lot and then it turned into a relationship from there.

    After college, H got a job working as an engineer for the Air Force. This brought us to Columbus, MS and we have been living here since last May.

    H is an awesome person and we love all of the same things. Everything just works for us. We have a kitty named Miley (no, not because of Miley Cyrus). We are most likely getting a dog within the next couple of weeks!

    Well....this isn't a very good picture to see either one of us but it is by far my favorite. This was the first time my FI ever took me flying. We weren't dating at the time, but our friend that was sitting in the back seat (that took the pic) said she would be sure to have it framed and at our wedding reception. We laughed at the time!




    If you couldn't tell this is our save the date! I love love love them! His sister is a photog and a graphic designer so this is all her! 32 days left!!!

    What a cool picture Chouna!

    I met H through a friend who I met at a Frat party at Southern one night. He was completely WASTED and was hitting on me. I kept turning him down and an hour or so later he came up to me and said I needed to meet his friend b/c I was going to marry him one day. The friend doesn't remember it, but my friend who was with me does. It was like he was a drunken psychic.

    My FI is a CivE major at State, and he's 3 years younger than me - I'm getting my second bachelor's from State in Fashion Merchandising (my first one is from USM in Costume Design).  We met through a mutual friend at a party -fast forward 3 years, I was living in Cleveland, OH working for a theatre, and was in MS for a visit with family and I decided to go visit the friend that introduced us and my FI's twin brother (I had completely lost touch with my FI).  I was chilling in their house waiting for all the guys to get home, and when he walked through the door, I felt myself light up like a Christmas tree!  I jumped up and hugged him fiercely (and later found out I scared him to death) and after catching up and talking for hours, I knew exactly what I'd found!  We've been inseparable for 2 and a half years, and 3 weeks ago, he popped the question!  *jumps for joy*

    Thank you!  We are trying to, but it's a sticky wicket; our schedule is limited because we're both still in school.  His twin brother is getting married in December of next year, (his twin is his Best Man and his twin's fiancee is my MOH) and we wanted to get married in early October of next year, BUT my MOH's mom is literally raising hell that we are stealing her daughter's thunder, and now my FH's aunt's are telling us the same thing, and that having our wedding that close to the other one is rude and a financial burden for them because they want to lavish us with gifts (they are contributing nothing to the wedding budget).  Drama, drama and more drama.  The FH's little sister is getting married this coming weekend (that's a completely different story) and the four of us (me, FH, twin and MOH) are going to hash it out (I hope).  So that's the long form answer.  I guess the short form answer would be...  not yet.

    We set a date!  March 9, 2013!  It's a long way off, but it's great coz I have time to plan.  Any advice for making it through a long engagement?
