August 2012 Weddings

Feeling blah?

Anyone else having trouble feeling "like a bride"?  I picked up my dress last weekend from the seamstress, and even all put together, veil and all...I've never had that super emotional bridal moment.  It probably is a bit different for me since I'm not having a traditional wedding, we're going to Vegas with just a few family members, but I don't know.  I feel lke I'm missing out on something here... :(

Re: Feeling blah?

  • I feel you. I never had the emotional moment of "saying yes to the dress". Maybe it's because I'm a stage performer/have done pageants before. I just know I'm happy in the dress I got.
I'm not that excited about being a bride but perhaps more excited about the honeymoon.
I think it's normal. I would think myself too cheesy if I get that bride feeling.
Not that I think being emotional about feeling lika bride is cheesy, I just don't think that's very me.

  • I haven't had that moment yet, either.  It's feeling more and more real, but I don't have that princess, floating on clouds, rom-com kind of feel.  I am also significantly less stressed out than I thought I would be at this point!

Same. I'm just not that emotional of a person. I doubt I will cry on my wedidng day, but we'll see!  Maybe I'll surprise myself!

  • I certainly haven't had that moment about my dress (I mean, I love it, but it's a dress). I do, however, get emotional when I think of the actual ceremony, and standing at the front of the church with my FI, saying our vows. I'm certain that I'll be weepy day of (I'm a crier). I don't think that's the "bridal" feeling you're talking about, but I don't think I really get that feeling, either. It's okay, you're still going to wind up married at the end of the day!
  • I'm glad to hear that it's not just me.  It was beginning to worry me.
  • I get where you're coming from. I'm not a super outward emotional person. It's only been the last couple of weeks that I've felt outwardly excited about things, and I mean like the cake design and such. For my dress, I really liked it and I felt happy about the dress, but there was no "Omg I'm going to cry" type of feeling. I was joking with some of my friends the other day that at the wedding, all the BMs, my FMIL, and friends will be crying, while I walk in and just "Sup?" Lol.
  • I too am feeling "Balh" we got our marriage license and i thought for sure it would help things feel more real and um no not at all. Then we had a meeting with the venue to get everything set up floor plan wise and I still didn't feel like a bride. Even doing the diy projects...don't feel like a bride...at this rate idk if i will feel like a bride on the wedding day lol

  • I haven't been super emotional, but then I am not generally an emotional person.  I think we are both looking forward to the honeymoon, and just ready for the wedding planning to be over.
