Tailors: Is Louise the only one? :)

Hi all,

I've heard a lot of hype on this forum about "Louise". I don't doubt that she's fantastic, but I am wondering:
-Has anyone used the tailor at Brides of France? The store says she's fabulous (of course) but I haven't heard/seen any reviews. I'm not even sure what her name is, actually.
-Who else is out there that you love?
-What are the rates/are they reasonable?

I'll definitely check out Louise, too. Just want to know if anyone else strikes your fancy in the fitting department. Thanks!

Louise has gotten great reviews on here because A) she extremely reasonably priced, B) she does good work, and C) you always feel like a pretty, pretty princess leaving her house.

Most of the complaints I've seen about wedding store tailors is that they're fairly expensive.  I haven't seen too many complaints in way of quality.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I really have no doubt about Louise's talent, esp considering the rave's on here about her. You hit the nail on the head about wedding store tailors being expensive. They told me straight up that it would probably cost $400 for my alterations -- and this is when they ordered the dress for me!

To compare prices...my friend used a bridal shop for alterations and paid $150 for a simple hem and a 3 point bustle. I'm using Louise and needed my dress taken in 2 sizes, zipper changed to corset, hem, not sure how many point my bustle will be but my dress is cathedral length so definitely more than 3 points, my straps were broken, etc. and Louise is only charging me $250 (the max she charges). She is a wonderful person and you can tell she loves what she does. I never understood why the knotties on this board were so "obsessed" with her until I met her haha. I wanted to give her more business so we are having her make our BM dresses (only $85) and my mom is taking her dress there to get altered. She also gives you a 10% discount for paying in cash.

I am using Louise, but if you want to check another trusted tailor...I go to Tom's Tailor for my normal clothing alterations.  He's absolutely amazing and is consistently rated really highly in MN papers, etc.

He's in St. Paul on Grand Ave.  Every time I go, it's very busy and there are lots of busy workers around--but Tom always does my fittings, and I"m sure he would for a bridal gown!!   651-222-5953

    Good luck:)

Kristen Edwards is a little bit cheaper than Louise and not quite as busy.  I have seen great results and she only charges $75 for any bridal gown alterations.  I am going with Louise since I am have a custom made dress - but if Louise wasn't around, I was confident with kristen's abilities

Can someone give me Louise's contact information?  Sounds like I need to call her for my alterations as well.  :)
