So...uh...whatcha doing?

God, I'm bored.  I'm sitting around watching the golden girls and drinking wine.  Anybody out there?

Re: So...uh...whatcha doing?

  • I'm here. It just finished storming and I'm sitting by the door enjoying the smell of rain and the sound of thunder. I just finished wrapping our presents- all done now, save a little which I need to buy for H (and vice versa, I think), which we'll finish tomorrow.

    How are you?

  • Trying not to smash my laptop on account of the server errors.  Yeah, I know, server errors blah blah blah...

I said I'd poke around till my glass of wine was gone, which will be momentarily, so I'm just about off to bed.

  • I gather that many of us are also busy refreshing the page, although that seems to go without saying today.
  • Just watched the weather and confirmed that it looks like we'll be snowed in for Christmas.

Darn, guess we won't be able to travel 2 hours each way to FMIL's for Christmas eve
  • Night!  Wine gone!

I miss thunderstorms.  We got almost none this past summer, and it really bummed me out.  We've got a doozy of a snowstorm coming in tomorrow or Wednesday though.  Not as cool as a thunderstorm though.

  • Hullo! Sounds nice, I love storms (at least when I'm inside and my power doesn't get knocked out, haha).

I'm good, just bumming around tonight...did lots and lots of xmas shopping today.  Outlet malls 4 days before christmas are pretty much a horrible idea...oh well.  I'm hoping to get the rest of my shopping done tomorrow as well.  What are your plans for xmas day, with family or just you and your hubs?
  • Yeah...the server errors really are freaking annoying this week, Mocha came and went before I could even reply, haha.
  • I don't know- I'd love a snow storm! Unfortunately a little warm for us to have one of those here! ;P

Oh, it was summer/winter solstice yesterday (21st), wasn't it (sorry random, just realised that I forgot about it)?

    Anna, that sounds horrible! ;P

yep.  I'm devastated.  Guess i'll just have to sit home with Cory, cuddle up on the couch and watch cheesy holiday movies while sipping cocoa and watching the snow fall.
  • Koopa, our plans are:

Drive down to the coast (about an hour away) for christmas eve party with family friends... come home afterwards.

Christmas morning: open presents from each other, and presents for the cats (shut up feline h8rz!), then head back down to the coast to my parent's house for present opening, breakfast and lunch (plus swimming etc), followed by heading up to a nearby mountain where H's mother lives so we can have dinner with his family. We'll probably stay there the night and head to our friend's house on boxing day before going home.

Should be fun, albeit a lot of driving!

    What about you?

  • Anna, sounds nice! :)

Sun, our plans are very similar.  Christmas morning I'm heading over to my aunt/uncle's house to see my dad's side of the family (FI has to work).  Then xmas day we'll exchange our gifts to each other and our dog (no hate from me, haha) here at the house.  Then we'll head to his parents' house (about 20 minutes from here) for lunch/gifts, then to my parents'.  He has to work Xmas day 3-11pm so that sucks, but we're going on vacation the next day so I'll live!
  • Where are you heading to for your holiday? sounds like fun!
  • We're heading to colorado for a week.  My family has a cabin there and it's so nice to get away.  Although after a week couped up in the house with my parents, brother and his wife, FI and 3 dogs i'll probably be singing a different tune...
  • Lol well I hope you have a great time!

(if I disappear, it's because there's another big storm heading our way- so very dark outside! how exciting).

  • I miss thunder.  Maybe we'll luck out and get a thundersnow this year.  I'm going to peek outside and see what the damage is yet.
  • We haven't had a lot of rain here over the past six months or so, but there's always a lot of thunderstorms in summer. We have a humid and sub-tropical climate so it's great for facilitating storms. Our house is particularly awesome to watch them from as we have big windows to the back and big windows on the sides/top of our house (cathedral ceilings so very high with big triangular windows, if that makes sense). Yay for storms! The only thing we have to worry about is the big trees that are rather too close to our house (we really need to get them removed, actually- they look beautiful and are good for the environment, but quite dangerous for us/the house).
  • We get quite a few thunderstorms here in texas.  Snowstorms aren't nearly as fun, considering they ALWAYS turn into crappy ice storms.  Texans and ice just plain don't mix, it's pathetic.
  • Well, despite our frequent thunderstorms in summer, most queenslanders (state I live in) can't seem to figure out how to drive in the rain... last time I was on the highway during a storm, the traffic went down to 40 km's an hour (umm 24 miles according to a random online converter), it was rather ridiculous! It doesn't rain frequently here, but when it does, it's generally fairly spectacular!
  • (and I meant to say that given that most of us can't drive in rain, I hate to think what would happen if it were to snow here! ;P)
  • Hello ladies!  I'm late as always; just got back from a friend's birthday dinner. We made fettuccini Alfredo and had some delicious Zin. Now I'm hanging out, waiting to get sleepy. Anyone still around?
