DJ prices

I got a quote from a really fantastic DJ that came highly recommended to me.  Their services include ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.  For all of that they are $1000 (+taxes).  They don't lower the price if it's just reception.

Problem is, I had my heart set on strings.  The duet is $600 for ceremony and cocktail hour.  It all seems crazy to do both.  So should I do Ceremony ($300) with the strings and then suck up the DJ cost for cocktail hour too, or just have DJ for all?

I'm not sure I like the idea of DJ for the ceremony.  Anyone had one?  How'd it turn out?

Re: DJ prices

  • I did both.  Strings for ceremony and cocktail hour, DJ for reception.  I don't regret it--that was the vibe I wanted for my wedding.

A nice compromise would be the strings for the ceremony and the DJ for the rest.  That being said, the DJ can play any music for the ceremony that you want, including strings, and it should work fine.
