Ceremony Site: Owosso Church of Christ - Owosso, MI (No fee because my parents are deacons and Sunday school teachers.
Officiant: Minister Steve Lockwood (Again, no fee.)
    Ceremony music: CD's

Reception site and caterer: Knights of Columbus - Owosso, MI (There was no site fee just the per plate fee which was $13.50/person. This included the food, set up, clean up, table clothes, dishes, silverware, staff, cake cutting, etc.)  The food was absolutely amazing! All of our guests told us that they have never had such good wedding food!

Bakery: My grandma makes wedding cakes so she made ours for us free of charge. It was delicious and beautiful!

DJ: Atomic Sounds. I cannot say enough good things about Atomic Sounds.  The dj was very helpful and made sure everything was done exactly the way we wanted it.  I have never seen so many people on the dance floor at a wedding! We had to move tables and chairs out of the way to make the dance floor bigger. This dj service pretty much made our reception as enjoyable as it was (We had unlimited $795 for an unlimited amount of time.)

Limo: Blue Drive City Club - Clio, MI  We got a party bus for the whole day and it was amazing! The driver drove all the girls around to get our hair and make-up done and when we wanted to make extra stops for coffee, snacks, etc, we didn't have to give him directions, he knew exactly where he was going.  The driver was very polite and even jumped in to help when my sugar was low and I almost passed out. I highly recommend this limo service. (We paid $1500 for 10 hours of service; this included champagne on the bus and our names on the outside of them bus.)

Florist: Delta Flowers - Lansing, MI  My flowers were gorgeous. I didn't order a lot and I didn't order high end flowers because I was on a tight budget, but Laura made them look incredible! (I ended paying about $1000 altogether.)

Photography: Amy Boeve Photography - Grand Rapids, MI  Amy is absolutely amazing.  I could not have asked for a more perfect photographer. My husband and I don't consider ourselves to be very photogenic people, but she made us look amazing!  I am absolutely going to be using Amy for any future photography needs I have! (Our package included an engagement shoot and all day wedding photography and it was $1800.)

Dress: Pierre's Bridal - Lansing, MI  The people at Pierre's honestly care about their clients. They made sure that I looked the best that I could on my wedding day and did everything in a very timely manner. After the horror stories I have heard about certain other bridal shops, I am so glad I went with Pierre's.  (I got my dress from them during one of their clearnance sales so after alterataions my dress was about $500.)

I can honestly say I had the perfect wedding day! Nothing went wrong and all of our vendors were amazing!  I highly recommend Atomic Sounds, Amy Boeve Photography, and Blue Drive City Club!

    Ceremony
    Ceremony Site
Lakeview Banquet Center  $250 (Beautiful! They've built a lovely new brick path to a brick circle by the water for outdoor ceremonies and the willow tree there is just stunning and made for great pictures!)
Officiant    Ronda Yarsevich   $290  (She was a really nice lady but stumbled a bit through our ceremony then pronounced our last name wrong when she introduced us as husband and wife)
Ceremony Music    Jon Hermann with Real Deal DJ's   $50   (Jon did an awesome job for our ceremony music. He did a great job with looping and timing and the volume was perfect!)

    Reception
    Reception Site
Lakeview Banquet Center  (The space is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was so incredibly nice. I can't say enough good things about this place and all the staff!!!!)
Caterer    Mortons Fine Catering (partnered with Lakeview)   around $4100 for full bar and 98 guests $19/person for dinner and $12.50/person for full bar   (The food was so good, and they worked with us to give us the menu of barbecue foods we wanted. The bartending staff was incredibly friendly and served the strawberry daquiries all night even though they were only supposed to be served during the cocktail hour!)
Chair Covers/Linens    Chair covers $2.50 each
Bakery    A Peice O' Cake   $461   (Our cake was absolutely beautiful! She did an amazing job with the details, and it was delicious!)
DJ    Jon Hermann with Real Deal DJ's    $500   (Jon was so awesome to work with! He was happy to use the playlist I wanted, went out of his way to find songs for me that he didn't have in his library, shortened all the special dances songs that I wanted so we wouldn't have to dance for 6 minutes each, and didn't play the songs on my do not play list! I HIGHLY recommend him!!)

    Other
    Rehearsal Dinner
We rented the pavilion at Sharp park and ordered pizzas from Jet's Pizza and catering subs from Subway.   $40 for pavilion rental, $40 for 3 pizzas, and $70 for 2 sub platters. Also $12 for soda and $40 for beer and wine. About $200 total.   (The pavilion was great. We had about 35 people there, but it would have fit over 60. We were able to get an alchohol permit for free, just had to fill out a form. It was pretty and peaceful and everyone really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and casual food)
Florist   DIY'd my own flowers, bouquets, bouts, etc. with silk flowers. Probably spent about $100 total on all the flowers for the whole wedding

    Photography
    Photographer
Double Vision Photography   $1000 for pre wedding photo session (did boudoir photos), two photographers for full wedding day, 11X14 gallery wrap print, 2 8x10's, 4 5x7's, 3 4x6's (requested instead of wallets) and hi-res disc of all photos with printing rights.   (Jena and Kim were great! It was so awesome having 2 photographers, and they did great with details and capturing moments! Our pictures are stunning and I'm so happy with them!)
Videographer    Weren't planning to have video but the night before the wedding my bridemaid's boyfriend offered to do it for free! Not the greatest quality but better than nothing! Score!

    Beauty / Attire
    Rings
Kay Jewelers    $160 for both wedding bands
Wedding dress    Davids Bridal   $600 for dress and veil
Alterations    David's Bridal   about $150 for bustle and to have it taken in and shortened
Tuxes    Men's Wearhouse   about $100 per guy
Bridesmaid Dresses    Bridesmaids picked out their own dresses, all 3 ended up getting dresses at Deb for under $40
Hair    BridgeWater Salon and Spa    $45/updo   (I work at this salon as a Massage Therapist, so all the stylists are friends of mine, but I can honestly say that they are some of the nicest, most talented girls I've come across! Our bridal specialist, Sarah, keeps the girls booked with bridal parties almost every weekend!)

    Paper
    Invites
DIY'ed with the help of www.Postcards.com around $250 total with RSVP cards and stamps   (I loved the designs that Postcards.com had and how easy it was to design my invitations with them. The prices were great, and I had a lot of fun making them!)
Programs/Menus    My bridesmaid, Jamie, designed my programs for me and I got them printed at Kinkos with a sweet discount from a friend who I am extremely grateful to!   $15

    Wedding is May 28th 2011

Ceremony- Haven't picked on yet, looking into the Methodist Church downtown
Lansing, cost about $1000 for everything

Reception- Eagle Eye (Hawk Hollow) - seating is about 300 to 350 - looking  at a                total of about $10,000 including food, open bar, table settings

    Florist- Belen's Flowers - I have 8 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, and 1 trainbearer -
Looking at a cost of about $1,700

Dresses- all from David's Bridal - got my dress for $500 it was origanally $900

Invitations- My fiances mom is starting a graphic design/ computer tech bussiness
and is taking care of that :)

I'm still looking for a DJ (I'm white & fiance is black so we need a good mix of music ;) lol), Limo service, hair & make up, and a photographer... and good recommendations? We want to get this stuff taken care of quick! But we don't want anything to costly, since most of our budget is going to the reception because our wedding is going to be fairly large! HELP! Tongue out

RRPerry - I highly recommend Tunes by T for your DJ. T himself is going to be our DJ, but I think the cost is slightly lower if you go with a different DJ. I'm not positive about that though. Also on his facebook page there is a promo if you mention it you get 10% off. I was worried about the same thing as you, finding a good mix of music for everyone at the reception for the same reason. I have not heard one bad thing about Tunes by T, and also one of my bm's knows him and was at a reception he did recently and said he was awesome. It was nice to have someone tell me that who I actually know, not just from reviews on the internet.

Check out Kelly at Looking Glass Photography too.

    http://lookingglassphotography.biz/

She has very reasonable prices and does great work. She's super nice, and the pictures and albums she brought to our meeting were even better then what was online. She has pictures from recent weddings on her blog too.

    HTH!

I got married in East Lansing in April 2009, so this is super late, but might be worthwhile information for some.  Congrats brides-to-be!

I would also like to add that I LOVED all of my vendors.  They were reliable, reasonable in price and really made our day.  The only issue I had was that Douglas J Ex was running behind and made us a little nervous that day.  And there was some miscommunication about the price of my makeup.

Please feel free to PM if you have any questions or need information, as I'm no longer a regular poster on this board.

Hello everyone! My wedding is July 30, 2011. Finally am getting everything organized, so I thought I'd share my progress: UPDATE 8/8/11 - Posted reviews for my vendors! Everything went great, so I only have positive feedback to report! :)

    Ceremony
    Ceremony Site:
MSU Alumni Chapel - A+ The rehearsal and day-of went smoothly. The people at the chapel are really friendly and easy to work with. I especially love that they provide you with someone to cue the ceremony (music cues, the timing of bridal party down the aisle, etc) - free of charge!
Officiant :Pam Klusak - A+  I can't say enough good things about Pam! She delivered our ceremony with such enthusiasm and passion, and everyone loved her. Highly highly recommend.
Ceremony Music: Friend will be playing the piano

    Reception
    Reception Site:
MSU Union - A+  Easy to work with - the set up was exactly as described, the ballroom was beautiful, and the food was AMAZING!  I also loved how they set up everything for us, we didn't have to do any set-up or clean up. Just perfect.
Caterer: Spartan Signature Catering A+ Delicious! We did the Spartan Signature Buffet and it was a huge hit!
Chair Covers/Linens: Weddings by Nicole A+ great prices on chair covers, they were exactly as described and well worth the price!
Bakery: The Cakery - A+ Cake was soooooooo good!
DJ: Matt from W.E.D. - A+ Very professional and everything went smoothly. He really listened to what we wanted to be played and what we didn't. The dance floor was packed all night!

    Other
    Rehearsal Dinner:
Spartan Hall of Fame Cafe - A+ great food and beautiful banquet room
Limo: Dreamkeepers - A+ they were right on time and very professional. Didn't have any problems at all!
Florist: Petal & Forrest - A+ Bouquets were GORGEOUS!!
    DOC: None

    Photography
    Photographer:
Brett Maxwell Photography A++ Simply the best Lansing photographer around. He is well worth the price - you will get so many unique and beautiful shots from him. He is also so great to work with, friendly and smiling throughout the whole day and night! I knew it would be worth it to splurge on photography, and I was right! Brett is the best.

    Ceremony
Ceremony Site Grand Ledge Opera House--good employee who helped us a lot day of and day before but otherwise somewhat unreliable and confusing.
Officiant- Pam Klusak of Matrimony and More--excellent and helped us write our entire ceremony and reviewed our vows, made suggestions and kept them secret!
Ceremony Music- W.E.D- we used Matt & Lynn, Matt DJs and Lynn does decor and planning.  Great and very reasonable.  Best hire we did for our wedding were Matt & Lynn.

    Reception
Reception Site- GLOH again, okay but somewhat unreliable
Caterer- Adeline Leigh- good prices (12.50 pp) but not great quality of food at ALL.
Chair Covers/Linens- Decorate the Occasion- DO NOT recommend. For the price, many things got screwed up and no reply to e-mails or phone calls afterwards.
Bakery- Cakes by Sue- pretty but very dry cake. Promised ~150 servings and got less than 100 because cake was incredibly dry and fell apart, also was delivered at 8:30 a.m. which leads me to believe it was made night before or so.  I worked in a bakery--this is a big no no.  Otherwise, it was okay.  Reasonable price and if I did it again, I'd honestly just do my own cake.
    DJ- W.E.D.- see above, excellent
Favors- Donation to American Heart Association, Marge was amazing
    Lighting

    Other
Rehearsal Dinner- Gilbert & Blake's Okemos, MI.  Everything was PERFECT and delicious!
    Limo- NA
Florist- Flowers by Mary- Good, reasonable price, does not reply to e-mails though
DOC- W.E.D.- AMAZING.  Please do consider Lynn as your DOC.  I have no idea how things would have gone perfectly without her.  Incredibly organized, FRIENDLY and very caring.
    Miscellaneous equipment

    Photography
Photographer- Looking Glass- will update review once we get the final pictures.  Weren't pleased with engagement photographs but we really think that wedding ones will make up for it.
Videographer- Timeless Media Productions- Samantha and Mark were SO incredibly nice and organized.  Haven't gotten final product yet but anticipate great product.  Very reasonable and want to please client!
    Photobooth- NA
    Picture Locations- GLOH
Engagement Pictures- MSU campus/Alumni Chapel/ Beaumont Tower

    Beauty / Attire
Wedding dress- Demetrios of Troy and then Dallas- pain the butt but gorgeous dress!
Alterations- Dem of Dallas- amazing job!
Tuxes- Men's Wearhouse of Allen, TX and Lansing, MI.  Recommend Lansing, MI mall one, do not recommend Allen, TX.
Bridesmaid Dresses- David's Bridal- excellent dresses
Hair- Panopoulis Salon- Great job and very reasonable
    Makeup- myself

    Paper
Save the Dates- Vistaprint- good, but difficult to find best promo!

Bakery - Batterbee Cakes - Naomi Batterbee's cakes are so delicious. The tasting is great, you get to try so many flavors and they're all so good! Some cakes make look fancier, but her cake tastes the best and that's what everyone will remember! Our guests are still talking about it!

Favors - Got chocolate covered MI cherries from Cherry Republic (dark chocolate are better than the Imperial), and also chrome luggage tags from Myron.com. Cheap, no imprint, and high quality!
