Do NOT use Suncoast Mobile Wedding Officiants

If you live in the Bradenton, FL area do not hire Suncoast Mobile Wedding Officiants (owned by Joseph Theeuwes) I hired this man to officiate my wedding which was supposed to take place on January 1, 2011. My fiance had a really bad accident the day after Thanksgiving and broke his leg in two places and has had a lot of set backs (18 surgeries) so we had to reschedule the wedding for April. All my wedding vendors were fine with rescheduling including this company. My officiant offers to place a wedding announcement in the local newspaper. He forgot to retract the announcement after we rescheduled the wedding and it appeared in the newspaper January 9th. It was extremely embarrassing to us because people kept calling and asking us about the wedding. I contacted Joseph to tell him about his mistake and all he said was sorry. Later, in an e-mail, I asked if he would consider doing out rehearsal for free to make up for his mistake. He called me minutes later and told me he would not be doing our wedding and there are no refunds (we paid him the full $200 at the time of hire). This man is an awful, horrible jerk!!!! DO NOT HIRE JOSEPH THEEUWES! Take the time to look up his record on the Manatee County Clerk of Court website. 4 counts of domestic abuse and 2 counts of repeat violence.

Wow...that stinks! On the bright side, he doesn't sound like the type of guy who you would want officiating your ceremony anyway! :)

He probably wasn't too stoked that you called him and asked him to make up for his mistake. I wouldn't really be either, but I can defintely see where you are coming from. I don't really think i'd be too embarassed by having to tell people it was a mistake so I guess I wouldn't have reacted the same.

    Samantha,

We tried to work with you.  We felt bad that your fiance was in an accident.  We worked with you and rearranged our schedules to accommodate yours. We wrote a beautiful ceremony for you and your fiance.  It was you that filled out and signed your "free"  wedding announcement that was turned into the newspaper.  We can't retract anything you signed.  We did appoligize as you stated for the newspaper publishing information that you authorized but failed to retract, however- that was not enough; you then wanted all kinds of discounts and free services for your error.  You also failed to mention your recorded phone message threating to come to our personal residence and do us bodily harm.  You also failed to mention that your complaints were thouroughly reviewed and documented by the Better Business Buearu who also did not rule in your favor.  As to your statements reguarding  domestic violence and repeat domestic violence; had you done your research properly, all of these complaints were made by a previous bitter spouse in order to obtain custody of our children in which the courts have deemed as simply arguments between the parties and did not meet the statutory guidelines for domestic violence as outlined by law in the Florida Statues. (which means she lost) You have now published SLANDEROUS and LIABLE information to a 3rd party in writing that is not accurate; which has opened yourself up to possible future litigation and civil lawsuits for slander and liable against us.  It's sad, you're putting out so much negativity.  I feel sorry and embarrassed for Nicholas, for your BRIDEZILLA behavior.

We wish you and Nicholas the best in what is sure to be a challanging life long committment and bond as you take your journey through life as a married couple.

I am confused.  I was going to use your services as well, so I did do some research.  First and foremost the term is "libel" not  "liable".

I mean it is unusual for a company to brag that a person's complaint was unfounded by the BBB.  The reason is because most companies don't let it go that far.  So, I looked up the BBB and it has an alert for your company, that you are out of business.  Which is funny, were you out of business before you took her money?  Therefore, I went to the Secretary of State which everyone can view as Sunbiz.org.  The Secretary of State shows your business as closed long before you took Samantha's money.

So, if someone has an emergency, they are out of luck with your company?

The complaints at Manatee County look more like applications for protection from domesic violence.  "Bridezilla"?  "Spiteful ex-spouse"  "Protection against domestic violence"?  Kept the woman's money?  BBB alert not in business?  Secretary of State states closed several months before hand?

    Yea, I'm gonna hire you.
