Has anyone used these DJs???

I've decided it's time to start looking for a DJ.  Since music is one of the most important parts of our wedding, I want to make sure it's a good one.  Our venue gave us a list of recommended vendors, and I like the idea of using a DJ they recommend just because then I know they are familiar with the venue and their sound equipment and acoustics.  However, I've never even heard of any of them.  So, if you have any feedback on any of the following DJs, I'd GREATLY appreciate it:
John Scibello
Bill Scheivert
Skyline Entertainment, Jerry Corrado
Tom Barrett
3 Way Street Sound, Robert Hallinan
Bob Weiderwax

Thanks!

I haven't heard of any of them.  What is your venue?  I'm gonna be a total cynic and point out that many "preferred" vendors by venues pay to advterise with them or get some other sort of kickback - so it's not always the best measure of quality :) However, you are on the right track in asking a particular DJ whether or not they have worked at your venue before - a DJ with experience there is likely to remember how the acoustics are or what equipment they might need specifically for that venue.

Are you looking for anything in particular with your DJ? (Lighting, a particular style of music, going to put on a show, stays away from cheesiness and line dances, does lots of line dances, etc.?)  We can offer lots of suggestions.

I want to know your venue too.  I'm going with Silver Sound but with a DJ who has never been to my venue although, I know other Silver Sound DJ's have.  I went with a specific DJ that was referred to me by a friend.  Lots of DJ companies have multiple DJ's and chances are one of them has worked your venue before.  GL.

The only one I have ever seen mentioned or heard of previously is Tom Barrett and it has all been positive.  I suggest DJs Available, specifically Mike P.

I am using Tom Barrett, and he came highly recommended- like Jess said, all positive reviews.

I have heard of Bill Scheivert as well, but only because somehow I ended up on his email list (I think he obtained it from one of the shows I went to), and he has done nothing but spam me, even after I sent him a message saying we had already chosen our DJ.  And they are really weird emails, too- typed up, no formatting, lumped in one paragraph type emails.  I finally had to place his email and contact info into my spam folder.  I can't comment on his experience, but his actions prior deterred me greatly.

My venue is Kings Mills in Media.  I agree that the fact that they're recommended by the venue doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the venue requires that they use their sound equipment, so I would like to have someone who's worked there before.  If you know anyone who has had or been to a wedding there, and know the name of their DJ (assuming they were good), that would be very helpful.  I'm not really looking for anything too specific.  I do want some line dances, but no cheesy MCing.  We probably won't do anything with the lighting, just because it's an added expense that we don't really need. I appreciate your help!

I have been in business since 1985 specializing in wedding receptions.  I am recommended by over 60 hotels, country clubs and finer facilities in the Philadelphia, Wilmington tri-state area.  I was voted a ‘five star service’ on many wedding forums including The Knot, Wedding Wire, Wedding Mapper, and many, many, more. I have also received the Brides Choice Award 2009 & 2010 issued by Wedding Wire.

Choosing the right Disc Jockey for a wedding is an important decision. Invariably what many people will remember most about your reception is “the entertainment”. I entertain over 70 wedding receptions a year, and have done so for over 25 years. With my music library of over 300,000 song titles, I am very capable of satisfying all of your musical needs, as well as those of your guests.

My mission statement is on my business card,
    Your Wedding…Your Way!

As a result of this philosophy, I have developed many satisfied clients who have recognized my devotion to quality by honoring me with repeat business and referrals. I have been known as
The Delaware Valley’s Most Referred Independent DJ .
