The only time I can think of talks like that, NOLA are families like the Wild Whites of West Virginia. But the thing is, that family worked for, deserved, and had a bad reputation, so when there was a White kid trying to be good and break the mold, they knew they had to be the model citizen b/c they wouldn't be allowed to slide.

Not the same thing at all, but it's the only time I can think of it happening.

cali, i thought something similar - not about your child, but about any child out there with such an innocent face having to worry about what might happen to them because of what other people might do or think. based on their own prejudices.

even if he wasn't shot because he was black, anyone who says that race did not provoke the lunatic would be out of their everloving mind.

i don't think it's fair to say race has something to do with every single infraction against a minority, but there is nothing wrong with quesitoning the motive and looking at it as if race did have something to do with it. maybe it will teach people to start thinking about why they are doing something before they just go off and shoot a young child for no aparent reason.

nola, part of it is that if you are "other," every weird and stupid thing you do might get assigned to "that's just what black people do" rather than "what a stupid weirdo."

i point to this all the time, whenever someone asks "is that a korean thing?"
