• I don't really care about polygamy either.

Well, I don't care about polygamy if it's like, the Sister Wives type of polygamy. Those people seem pretty normal and loving. I am not really cool with Warren Jeffs polygamy.

Mara, out of curiousity, how would you feel if instead of siblings, it was father/daughter? Or mother/son? And number, I think how they're raised makes it harder to accept than biology. Like in the case you mentioned, they weren't raised as "family" if that makes sense.
Yes, this is actually why it bothers me more when it involves a parent-child role, regardless of biological relationship. For me it seems odd to want to be involved with someone with whom you had a parent/child relationship previously, it seems unhealthy to say the least (but I have never been involved in anything like that so what do I know).

I think that thinking something is "weird" and still loving them is two different things. You bet I would look at my [imaginary] twin brothers and think, yeah you two having sex is ODD but I don't think I wouldn't love them anymore. I think being freaked out is a normal reaction to seeing something so unexpected.

ETA: Polygamy doesn't bother me but I don't think you can compare polygamy to incest.

  • AATB -- I honestly don't know. I think I'd be more likely to be weirded out if it were two hypothetical siblings (like Mara, I only have one) rather than two complete strangers... but the idea of incest in general doesn't produce any visceral reaction in me. I'm okay with pretty much anything that happens between consenting adults that doesn't result in unwanted harm.

  • Also- J&K has been a little over the top recently with the "Guys COME ON, this is obviously not real!" I happened with the dress thread and it comes off a little "You guys are stupid if you think this is real".

Unbelievable stuff happens all the time. If you had told me twins would be banging, I would have laughed at you, but doesnt mean it didnt happen.

  • I don't give a single fuuck what two consenting adults do, but I sure as hell am going to think it's weird. The twin thing grossed me out, particularly because they weren't consenting adults when the sexual relationship started, but I don't think it should be illegal for them to be together. Polygamy doesn't bother me in the slightest and I don't think it's that weird, really. I didn't convey that in the thread very well, but eh.

I disagree that as a part of the immediate family it "isn't your business." Unless you were raised in a home where it was taught that it is ok to be in sexual relationships with your family members, it totally shakes the foundations of your family.
  • I do think it has a little bit of an "enlightened" attitude about it though. It's a completely out of the ordinary situation and to say something along the lines of it being totally normal and understandable is kind of bullshit. PP said it perfectly- you don't have to care what they do, but it is fucking weird.
  • I agree with Blue. I don't buy that anyone truly finds it normal for twins to be having sex. You might accept it and love them despite that, that doesn't mean you don't find it strange.

I know I'm going to sound all hippie doo "fight the corporations man" right now, but it's only out of the ordinary because it's so ingrained in our society that it is wrong. Just like for a long time it was (and in some cases still is) very much believed that being gay was wrong or that interracial relationships were wrong.

Also, the towel method whatthefuckeveritscalled is gross because it's unsanitary waste from your body.

Even minus sex, I feel like having an idendical twin would be super weird. I know people see themselves in mirrors all the time, but to actually see a whole other "you" would be really trippy to me. Granted I didn't grow up with it so I'm not used to the idea.
