Garters

How do garters work? Like I know the groom throws it, but i have noticed that most come with 2. Why is this?

Re: Garters

  • You wear both garters. Like susuwatari  said though, one is for you and the other is for the groom to throw (usually the pretty one with the flower/embellishment).
  • You have 2 legs- one for each. Not only are garters meant to be worn as a pair (their actual purpose for being is to hold up stockings), but it also keeps the poor groom from having to try to remember which leg you told him you would put it on.
  • Or one is to wear, the other is for the groom to pretend to take off your leg, so you aren't throwing some sweaty gross garter thats been on your leg all day while you're dancing and sweating it up.

That's what we did...well, not because of sweat, but because I wore my Grandma's garter from her wedding to my grandfather and I didn't want him to throw that one.  So I bought a second that I gave to the DJ and he gave to Mike to throw in place of it.
