DJ?

We are having a small reception (25-30 people) and I'm not sure if I want to hire a DJ or play my ipod. Our reception place is booked for 4 hours. Will I  need a DJ for the entire time?

Thanks!

Re: DJ?

  • I'd go with a DJ; its so much less stress to not have to worry about the music yourself on your big day.  If you want someone inexpensive for a small reception, several people on here have recently posted good reviews of:

Calvin (DJ Godzilla) 702-994-2046 Email: godzillasounds@hotmail.com

I think he charges $250 for four hours.

Wow!! DJ Godzilla is only $250.  That is the cost to hook up an IPOD at my reception.
I might just have to call him.
  • I emailed DJ Godzilla and he replied within the half hour. He said his new DJ package with all the bells and whistles is $300 for 4 hours...or if you donmt wan that its $85 an hour. =)

What are the "bells and whistles"? From the get-go I've been all about my Ipod, the one DIY I think I really can do, haha. and based on the capacity, if we do go the DJ route, we want as little equipment taking up space as necessary, like the DJ rocking THEIR ipod!

    Just curious
  • oh wow. Thats a good price! I contacted All Night Long and their quote was out of budget for me. Do you think I will need to purchase a dance floor or can I be OK without it?

He said speakers, 2 wireless mics, party lights, and turntable. That is the works for me. My plan was to use my Ipod as well but its $250 to have that option plus $75 for the mic so it appears the DJ is actually cheaper when I factor oin that Id need to download a bunch of additional music too.

I'd get a floor if your venue is carpeted
