Hey hey! Don't make me drink alone.

Re: Hey hey! Don't make me drink alone.

  • My safety plan is my H's gun, which is locked in our safe. My other safety plan is to call my dad because he'll send the fucking air force to my house.
  • Mica I think it just comes with the territory for us.  We have base stickers on our car that shows we are military.  When we were in WA we were at such a small base that there was only 1 major ship, but all ships went out together.  It was public knowledge when the ships were gone, so base stickers when the ships were gone generally meant a wife alone.  So now it's just instilled in us to take precautions.

  • Yeah, I don't really have a plan for having strange people in my house either.  I don't generally pick random people for service jobs though - I usually go through a reputable company of some kind.  I do usually let someone know when they're coming and leaving though.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Hey hey! Don't make me drink alone. : Yeah, I'm kind of scared since I'll have to actually be organized and whatnot to pull this off, but we can't afford for me to not work, so I'ma have to.

</div><div>It's a LOT of work organizing the actual getting to work/class/etc. Every semester I devote a boat load of time to planning everything. Get ready to say goodbye to your weekend, because you'll spend all of it doing homework for the week. ;) The good thing is that time flies when you're busy.

Good thing I don't do anything anyway. That'll be the one upside of moving somewhere where I don't know anyone =P

I'm nervous being alone here. I miss living in the country, where I didn't fall asleep hearing sirens at least once a night.
  • Hey, I just finished dinner.

I'm not having an awesome night. I got a letter saying I wasn't qualified for a job I applied to when I totally was qualified, and my mom told me my childhood cat died today. She was almost 19, so it wasn't unexpected or anything, but I'm still sad.
  • I don't have a plan except to try to run and hit the panic button on the alarm system. I now am wondering why I don't have a plan.

I'm more worried about being broken into than being alone with strangers since our break in. I was so paranoid I wouldn't let FI give out Halloween candy because I didn't want anyone to see in our house. He wouldn't sit outside and do it.

[QUOTE]I'm probably a sucker, but I have no safety plan for strange workers in my house.  Well, I have my super friendly guard dog.  Thank goodness I've never had a problem.  *knocks wood*

Neither do I and I don't even have a dog!  That reminds me that I was at home alone while our alarm system was being installed last year.  We finally saved some money for it after I walked in on a home burglary. I guess that's why I wasn't scared, they didn't seem like the "bad guys" after that.

Probably a little dumb on my part though.  I was just annoyed that I couldn't use our only bathroom while they worked on the windows in there.

<div>Aw Anna, I'm sorry. It's hard when a pet dies, even if it was somewhat expected.</div>

<div>I'm sorry Anna.   DH's family cat just died also.</div>

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think I messed up when I tried to quote.  Oops.

Sesh, that knife story is awesome! You gotta be prepared for anything.

  • I've known one of my best friends since kindergarten and her cat who I can't remember her not having died a little while ago too. I guess I'm just at that point in life where the childhood pets die. It's like an extra reminder that we really adults now. Cry

Anyway, I'll stop being a debbie downer now. I don't have plans for when strangers come over either.
  • I'm sorry, anna. It's not easy even if it is expected.
  • I am so damn tired of these AT&T commercials where people are like that's so 17 seconds ago and do you know how to post videos to facebook?
  • My cats are like 12 years old and every time I go to my mom's I ask her if they're still alive. It's going to break my heart when they die even though I know it's coming soon.
  • Hey all! I am sitting here drinking wine and sent H out to get me some more and some chocolate. He is going out with the guys tonight so I get to enjoy my time home alone :)

I totally didn't read any of this, so um, hi all!

  • That sucks Anna on both accounts.

I have no safety plan either.  I like your plan beach, may use that in the future.

    ::waves:: Hi Lynda

  • Sorry to hear that Anna, :( At least he had a long life. I wish dogs lived longer, like horses do.

[QUOTE]Ski, he's from the Mechanicsburg area.

Directly below where I grew up.  Probably about an hour south.  Small world.  Safe travels to him.
  • H is out tonight. I'd just settled in and staved off my paranoia/fear of the dark and y'all reignited it, lol. I worry about break ins as well. Nothing's really ever happened on my street and I probably have nothing to worry about, but we're toying with the idea of getting an alarm system.

Anyway, I just started the Gossip Girl series since he's out. Been meaning to.
  • Daff, books or show? Are you starting from the very beginning?
  • I don't understand why people get so dramatic during these "Group nights".  Almost all of these people seem insufferable.

  • The show. Just started from the very beginning.
  • I think 2nd season GG is the best. Then it just slowly goes downhill.

  • I love the show. I mean I love the books too, but the show is awesome. The season right now is crazy, but the early seasons were really fun.
  • It'll at least keep me occupied for awhile!
