I haven't gotten married yet, but we are doing cupcakes with a small round cake on top. That why we will still be able to cut the cake. Laughing

My original plan was for cupcakes, but we went with a cake since that came as part of our reception dinner package --

Ditto Naima ,In addition ,I think the cupcakes will be easy for our guest to take with them.

Coming from a huge lover of "cake", we are having cupcakes.  We are haivng an in-suite reception and I think it will be easier with heavy hors d'oeuvres.  And "if" there are any leftovers, they will be easier to send home with people..

We did cookie cakes, and we still did a cake cutting.  It's not really the cutting moment as much as the feeding each other that's of ritual importance (symbolic of providing each other your first meal as a married couple), so you could still feed each other a cupcake.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I think cupcakes are messy and not as good as cake, so we chose cake :)

We're going with a cake.  At a friend's wedding earlier this year, she had cupcakes piled high with bright orange and bright pink frosting.  They took one of the cupcakes to cut and fed each other a cupcake.  The only problem with cupcakes in her case was the venue didn't provide plates and forks to eat the cupcakes - they didn't think it was necessary.  They were very awkward to eat.

Cupcake tower with 6 inch round on top to cut.  Just our preference, like that the cake doesn't have to be cut for our guests.

I'm doing cupcakes with a 6" cake on top to cut as well..
Since we are doing "finger food" passed apps (no dinner) it seemed to make more sense... (not setting up for a "sit down and eat" environment)

Plus, I <3 cake in all it's forms... and cupcakes are cute :)

I think having a "cupcake tree" helps keep the image of having an actual cake there, and we will have a small one to cut (keeping tradition)

And I'm getting more flavors by having cupcakes...

We did a tower of cheesecake cakelets. We don't really like regular cake and I always relate cupcakes to a 1st graders birthday party, sorry lol.

I am going with a cake because well to be honest i was only gonna go with cupcakes because we couldnt afford a cake. And then i was explaining that to Jean-Philippe Maury and he laughed at me and said "cupcakes??? You are not getting cupcakes! this is your wedding" and now he has taking the reigns and is gonna make us a fab wedding cake! yay!

at my first wedding we did cupcakes and a cake.

the cupcakes were by far the yummiest thing ever and so pretty.  we had a cake that my mother made (she's a professional cake maker) using the recipe of someone very special to me that has passed.  that is really the only reason we had a cake.

    i'm a big cupcake fan.

Not married yet but FI and I decided on cupcakes and no cake we will just cut a cupcake instead.  He even thought it might be fun to have one oversized cupcake for cutting.
